Jasd: For fancy cuts, you should be looking for a vendor that provides an ASET image, which shows the light performance of the diamond. Regular images won’t really tell you much for fancy shapes, other than show you the patterning. JA allows you to pick up to 3 stones to get ASET images, and then their gemologist can tell you which one is better and why.

I’d give Pricescope another shot, but definitely make a thread instead of trying to sift through the information. I found it hard sifting through it myself as well, but as soon as I created a thread they guided me through the process

Jasd: yeah, I just saw your thread on PS! I promise that they are actually quite nice. apologies for not mentioning ASET before 🙁

an amazing cut will be much more forgiving in terms of color and clarity – that’s why ps’ers drool over perfectly cut G/H/I/J eye clean SI diamonds – you get your biggest bang for the buck there.

You at least have nice stones to look at, right? Progress!!

Jasd: ps, call the credit card company — they can generate a one time use number for internet shopping if it makes him feel better 🙂

though most ps’ers say do the bank wire to save $$ so that’s another option!

Jasd: lol my first thread on Pricescope asking for help went the same way too. But remember, they deal with newbies like us on literally a daily basis, so I’d imagine giving out the same info over and over can get a little tiring (for absolutely no cost too). They are right about focusing on cut quality above all else, I’ve seen the differences in cut quality in person and it’s shocking. Ideal cut radients are harder to come by since it’s not as popular of a cut as say a round or princess, but I’m sure something will come up. Best of luck!

We purchased a cushion cut diamond from Ritani.com – they are amazing!!! They will send two stones to a store in your area so that you can view them in person before buying, and that was the win for me. They’ll put a hold on a credit card for the more expensive stone, but there is no commitment to buy. They have a fantastic search page and most of the results have actual photos. Also, for what we were looking for, the prices were right there with Blue Nile. Cannot sing their praises enough!!!

Costco! I don’t have a radiant, but Costco diamonds are phenomenally priced. You’ll get a bigger diamond for your money there than anywhere else.

We got mine from since1910.com (HL Gross & Bro jeweler) & we are very happy with it. GIA certified and not overpriced like chain stores. Highly recommend them.

Jasd: My husband got my sparkler from B2CJwewls.com . My ring is absolutely gorgeous. He proposed over 2years ago and I get compliment almost daily.

He he is defiantly a researcher, and looks into everything. He researched the company, their BBB rating, all sorts of reviews and much more before purchasing.

Needless to to say we are NOT disappointed! the ring was also appraised at almost double the price. We would agree the the local store has a huge inflation in price and you are getting a better deal online. Good luck to you. ppst a pic of what you get. Here is a pic of mine…
