HI Bees, I am in love with Allure W230. The local bridal shop is asking $1100 for it and that is more than my bugdet for a dress. I have decided against a Chinese knock off but have been looking for the dress online.
I found a seller that says the dress was bought for a wedding that was called off. I could potentially save $500.
What are good ways to make sure that this is a legitimate seller? I found the classified on another wedding website. I looked up the seller on facebook (no luck) and in the phone book. There is someone by that name listed in the town where she said she lives in the white pages. I’m thinking of asking her to take a pic of the dress with her most recent local newspaper and send it to me.
Has anyone purchased a dress from a private party? How did you insure it was not a scam? Did you go through PayPal?

I am in the process of buying from someone in the classifides.
I am sceptical of buying something so important from someone online, but this person is answering all of my questions, and has sent me pictures of the dress.
I know NOTHING about paypal, but I have done some research and it seems like you’re pretty safe when you use it. Also, I have talked with several people who wants to hold off buying from this person until they hear how I liked my dress. (if it actually get’s here, and is real) and she knows this.
Therefore she gains everything by being honest and selling me the real thing(I was a little worried about knock-offs).
So i’m just going to do it, and hopefully I’ll be very happy with the result:)

I would ask for lots of pictures, a photograph of the dress tag and label, and a picture of the receipt, too.
PayPal or Ecscrow.com for sure.

Ask for a picture of the reciept and contact the store that she bought the dress at. They might be able to confirm the details for you

I bought a veil on classifieds, it went great. I used paypal. I did a little research, she has been posting here for a while and had it for sale for three months. She seemed legit and I’m very happy with the way everything went. But it was a little stressful until it got here, and I was only spending $90. Good luck!
