Just curious…it has been 4 months to the day that I ordered my Maggie Sottero dress. The bridal shop quoted me 5-6 months but they did say that it could be sooner than that. I was thinking about calling the bridal shop today to see if they have any updated information on the construction and delivery of my dress. Has anyone else done this? or do you think it is considered a pain for the bridal shop to find out this information?

don’t worry about bothering the shop — it’s their job to help you! i plan on calling mine this week.

I did. Why not?? You purchased a dress and it’s only fair for you to get a status or you will always be wondering what if.

When I ordered in August I was told mine usually takes 3-4 months but with the holidays coming it would be closer to 4-5 months. I caved and I called about 3 weeks ago and they said they were expecting it within a week or so, and it last Thursday 🙂

I was originally told to expect it in a month. After a month I emailed and they told me that it wasn’t coming for 3 months- they offer both 1 month and 3 months, but the girl who filled out my order form didn’t note that she had told me 1 month. So I asked to get it in two months instead, which they were fine with. Around the later expected date I called again to see when they were expecting it- They said ‘any day now’, and it actually came in later that day.

My dress ended up coming in about a week or two later than the dress shop estimated. I did not call, but I might have if another week or so went by. The time when my dress came in was still 6+ months from the wedding, so I was not especially worried.

I would wait until a bit closer to the quoted date. From then on I would call every 2 weeks or so. My dress was delayed an entire month (in customs) and I got it at the last minute. Scary! The shop couldn’t really do anything about it though.

I would call them if you want to. If it’s not in, they’ll just tell you that. I was kind of upset because my shop sent me a postcard telling me my dress came in, they didn’t even call me! The issue was that I already had a rush on my dress because I bought it in late August and I’m getting married next week. When it came in I had exactly 4 weeks to get alterations done. Talk about nervewracking! So yeah, I’d call if I were you and keep calling! Haha.

It wouldn’t hurt to call, I don’t think. You didn’t pay all that money to sit on pins and needles.

I was told 7 months, and it came in 4. I didn’t call because it came in earlier than I had expected, so I wasn’t nervous or anxious yet!

YES DO IT! I called my dress shop one day before my dress was due in. They told me it would probably come in alot earlier so when it didn’t I got a little worried. LONG story short I was 4 weeks away from my wedding and found out my dress WAS NEVER EVEN MADE! They lost the order and then told me how my dress needed to still be made and would be sent from CHINA! After many calls of me being a total B*tch they FINALLY got my dress in 2 days before my wedding! I ordered it about 8 months before. Oh did I mention it still needed alterations!?!
There is nothing wrong with calling! If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t of had a dress. =(

I plan to wait for their call.. unless the dress hasnt come in by the deadline they gave me.

I haven’t called on the phone, BUT if you mean have I “just stopped in” because they are right down the street to check it out, I’ve done it a few times. If they are a good shop, they should know you are excited and it shouldn’t bother them.

Call, you should know an exact date of when your dress will arrive. We update all of brides with an exact delivery date about a week or two after they make their purchase.
