Nope. Neither of us like the tradition. We were both going to hyphenate, but haven’t gotten around to it. We still might one day (our son’s name is hyphenated), but as time passes, the less any of it matters.
There’s only one time per year when I wish we all had the same name: when we’re doing our holiday cards and I can’t just write “The Andersons” 😂

TheGridMonster : Both of us liked the idea of combining both of our last names as we would have a part of our name and a part of the other. However, hyphenating would make it too long and nothing sounded right when we tried merging it to form a new name. So we decided to leave it as it is.
Also, I never liked having a unique name as I’m a very private person so I always wanted my future kids to have super common names for this reason so they have some level of privacy. SO’s last name is super common so I’m happy about that. I might add my last name to his someday just so I have an easier and more common last name 😄 and for the logistical reason you mentioned lol

I plan to change mine because his last name is much shorter than mine and sounds even better with my first name than my current last name does! Not sure what I would do if he didn’t have a last name I liked lol.

I’ll be changing my name 🙂 Can’t imagine a marriage without doing that.

I didn’t because I didn’t want to for various reasons. I built my professional career with my name and didn’t want to change it. All my important documents are under my name and I didn’t want to have to send another document to validify that these were mine. I like my surname and I want to keep it. I don’t see the reason to change my name.

I did not change my name. We are older, and I am well known in my field and did not want to change all of that. Our children have my husbands name, and I am occasionally called mrs. so and so. But otherwise it’s had no impact on us whatsoever.

No.
He wanted me to and I said no.
I’m upwards of 40 and we have no kids. I am a professional woman. I saw no need.
