    My fiance/husband picked it out.

We looked at settings together and picked our top one or two from each store. The one he ended up getting was my absolute favorite and while I didn’t want to tell him outright, when knew bc the whole time we were in that store looking at other rings I kept the one on my finger.

I didn’t want to pick out the diamond bc I felt like it was more a matter of budget (other than him knowing I liked round. He brought my SIL though bc he could barely tell the difference between any stone qualities lol. He and my SIL did well though!

I couldn’t vote.  Technically my DH was given his great grandmother’s ring to use.  I guess in a way that’s choosing since he didn’t decline or want to buy his own.

I specifically wanted an antique ring, so I provided Fiance with tons and tons of pictures of styles that I liked. Luckily, he looked at the pictures and eventually found the perfect ring!

I’m not engaged yet, but my boyfriend and I have been looking. He was so sweet to let me be apart of the ring shopping process. I orginally wanted a cushion cut halo until it was on my hand. I saw a stunning Tiffany Novo inspired ring and I that was the ring for me…he loves it too! We are still deciding between a round or cushion, but I think I am going to leave that up to him, as I love both. (:

We looked together…but he ended up picking it. It’s nothing like what I told him I liked, but it’s still a pretty ring. He’s very traditional, and the ring style I liked was not an ‘official’ engagement ring, so he vetoed it!

Fiance and I visited jewelers together, and I picked out the setting (Tiffany Novo style, custom made for way less $$ than Tiffany’s) and he ultimately chose the stone. We were looking at 2 different cushion cuts, 1 was a 1.27 ct H, VS1 and the other was a 1.11 G, VS2-FI saw color in the H and couldn’t get past it, so he was adamant about the G color. I wouldn’t have had it any other way- he got the ring 2 weeks after we had it made, and held on to it for another 2. The proposal was still a surprise because he kept setting me up to expect it….and then wouldn’t do it. So, I was surprised and yet got to pick out my ring. 🙂

I picked out 6 in his price range, and then the jeweler showed them to him.  He picked my fave without knowing it was my fave!

Originally Fiance wanted to pick out my ring on his own. He asked what I liked and I did my best to tell him, but I just confused him! I told him I preferred white gold, a halo, pave or shared prong band (TONS of sparkle!), and that I didn’t want him to break the bank on it. Oh, and that I LOVE sapphires. 🙂 I thought those were pretty good directions, but he was just totally lost, lol. He had never thought much about it, and didn’t know anything about jewelry. He figured he was going to get me a solitaire, and I’d just tell him what cut I liked. Of course solitaires are beautiful and classic, but not exactly my style. So in the end he just took me to the jewelry store and told me to point out exactly what I did and didn’t like. I think that took a whole bunch of stress off of him!

This is what I ended up with, and I couldn’t be happier with it!

When we first went ring shopping, we both found out that our ideas of what we wanted for ourselves and what we wanted for each other were completely different. We wanted our rings to be somewhat matching, but he wanted a plain yellow gold band, and I wanted a white gold halo with a diamond band. In the end, we chose each others’ rings and absolutely couldn’t be happier with them. They weren’t at all what we thought we were looking for, but they’re perfect for us!

I told him that I wanted a round diamond and at least 1 carat.  I showed him a couple of styles that I liked and really thought I wanted a halo, but he ended up picking out the ring on his own and went very classic with the setting.  I’m actually glad he did because too many of our friends have the halo style and I’m very glad to be different.  I got to pick out my own w-bands.

We picked it out together. He wanted to make sure I loved it. Yes, it slightly ruins getting engaged because you sort of know it’s coming, but it’s still a wonderful experience.
