There’s lots of different weights! I work in a print shop and make wedding invitations all the time.

You’ll need to know if you want a texture like linen. Or a smooth. Anything that says Cover is likely to be thicker.

Not sure what country you are in but I got samples from these guys as well as a few others. https://www.paper-garden.ca

Just google your country and envelopes or cardstock. Most suppliers will either send samples for free or let you buy sample packs.

I ended up buying invitation kits from party city for the envelopes and invitation holders. Envelopes are surprisingly expensive.

I made our own invitations, I had 200gsm for the cover with standard 100gsm inside that had info on it and I printed them at work.

I got simple plain white envelopes but they were 150gsm and the thicker feel alone made them feel luxurious and I felt like it protected they the interior better too. At one point I ran out and needed 5 more so I just went to a book store and bought some nice textured feel white envelopes but they were thinner and even with the fancy texture it didn’t feel as nice as the thicker plain ones.

So thicker is better and just go plain if you don’t need ‘fancy’ 🙂
