The place where I am getting married has two ballrooms upstairs right next to each other- I will very likely have another wedding or event going on next door at the same time. I love the idea of putting something in the bathroom, but is it rude to label it with our wedding name? Obviously that won’t stop the other wedding’s guests from using “our” supplies, but it might discourage the more polite ones. Or should I just leave it out for whoever needs the items regardless of which event they are attending, just to be nice?

I think our most popular items were actually mints and gum (probably for all the drunks!) We used the lists here on the Weddingbee Wiki and put basically all those things in our baskets. I think one thing we added was toothpicks in the guy basket because a lot of the guys in our families use them. The funny part is, the guys destroyed theirs way more than the girls did…they loved them!

I’m planning on doing one, though I don’t think I’ve been to a wedding that has. When I mentioned it to my mom she thought it was silly and unncessecary… but I think it’s a nice gesture. Especially because we will have a lot of guests flying in; they might not have everything with them needed to be comfortable for the day.
There’s a great wiki page on bathroom baskets with links to the Bees’ lists of things they’ve included.

I think I might include a small bottle of the Evian Mist for faces. It cools you off and our ceremony and reception are outside. I’ll also probably include sunscreen and bugspray.

Hi! We did them and they were a huge hit! I had kept the mens one pretty simple, and they didn’t really use theirs too much- mainly just the mints. I was really surprised that the women’s was so popular- the basket was literally empty at the end of the night! I even had full sized bottles of scented lotion and liquid soap (color coordinated for our big day!), and someone took them! Kind of strange… but at least people enjoyed them!

I was thinking of doing a bathroom basket but didn’t think anyone would use the things in it. But now I am doing one for sure! Thanks!

This is a great idea, I never would have thought of it! Def gonna add this to favorites and create some.

@<span style=”font-size: x-small; color: #81a026;”>arobb81, I would put a little sign or something on it… like you said, the other wedding’s guests will probably still use some of your stuff, which is fine, but I figure if you’re going to the trouble of making the baskets as a nice gesture for your guests, they should know it came from you and not from the other wedding or the venue itself. I’d just say something simple like “Compliments of John and Jane” or even just “Thanks for celebrating with us!” signed from you both.

I was going to do a basic one, but will probably skip since the bathrooms at my venue although very close to the reception room as also used by the general public who come into the Lodge or the restaurant.

I have been saved by bathroom baskets at weddings before, so I am definitely doing one. Our venue only has one bathroom, so my baskets are unisex: tide-to-go pens, pins, mints, hand lotion, tampons, and etc etc.
I’m wondering whether to include condoms… 🙂

I hit the Dollar Store last night and hit the jackpot. They had black and white baskets, in sets of 2, that are perfect. All I have to do is add a pink bow and they are set. I found several multi packs of the items that I am using, which made the cost much cheaper. So far I have each of them stuffed with:
2 packs of gum (4 pks for $1)
2 packs of mints (4 pks for $1)
Eyeglass wipes (most of our families wear glasses) ($1)
Scope mouthwash (59 cents)
Hand Sanitizer (3 pk for $1.00)
Tissues (4 pk for $1)
Liquid Hand Soap ($1)
Tylenol (pkgs of 3 envelopes for $1, bought 2 pkgs.)
Bandaids and antiseptic wipes that I already had at home
Sewing Kit ($1 ea, has thread, needles, pins, safety pins, tiny scissors)
The men’s basket has Axe Spray and Condoms (our reception is in a public bar)
The women’s has emory boards and hairspray, and some tampons and pads
I want to get some shout wipes too.
I think they are cute, even if it isnt a necessity. This was probably my most fun DIY project.
