We did not, but I would have prefered it that way!

Thinking about doing a combo wedding/honeymoon with just close family in order to cut costs! Nothing official though. 🙂

How do you define a big honeymoon? We had a private ceremony followed by several days in FL. Then we had a 40 guest wedding celebration followed by a week in Ireland. We were always judicious with our money but perhaps were less frugal with the honeymoon.

We are paying for our wedding ourselves. We decided to have a super intimate wedding with about 15 people, followed by a decadent honeymoon at a resort, then transferring to a private villa to continue the fun. Our budget is obviously really tiny, but I think we probably qualify for tiny-wedding-big-honeymoon status. I am so excited for extended one-on-one time with my new husband! It’s not for everyone, but for us, I think it was the best decision we’ve made.

We are! We actually canceled our deposits on our big wedding and are replanning a formal wedding at an inn for 35 people back in our home state and will have a casual free for all BBQ where we currently live afterwards. This way we still get the formal special day we want, we aren’t burdening our closest family who all would have had to travel, and we get to devote even more time to hanging out with our friends and actually socializing at the BBQ. The two events combined will be half the price of the “traditional” one and we can actually invite more people this way. Which leaves the other half of our original budget for the h-moon: two weeks in Thailand or Africa would be nice, but we haven’t decided exactly what to do for the honeymoon yet!

Doooooo iiiiiiiiit!

We did! A ceremony in our church’s chapel, cupcakes and a hot cocoa and cider bar in the fellowship hall and 10 days in Italy after! While I did miss some things like the dancing, we loved our honeymoon!

I’m actually not having a wedding. Splurging on the honeymoon. Hehe.

Wedding < 10 days in an overwater bungalow in Tahiti. Definitely emphasis on our once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon over a party. We have lots of parties, we don’t have lots of lagoons to jump in from a bungalow 😉

i would absolutely love a wedding with about 40 people invited.  It’s a little difficult with all the plus ones but i would absolutely be trying to do a small wedding

We got married during a month long safari in East Africa.  We didn’t invite any guests, though we ended up with quite a few people in attendance between the photographers, wedding planner and her husband, and the hotel staff who all turned up for the ceremony.  The actual “wedding” cost was laughably inexpensive, the honeymoon cost… not so much.  No regrets.  It was my perfect wedding day and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

chasesgirl:  this sounds perfect! If I had a church and lived near my family/friends I wouldve done this for sure.

We will be. Going to probably be just us (but maybe between 2 and 4 guests)

But we live in Greece and we’ll be coming over to Florida to get married and hopefully staying for a month, we would rather do that than just be able to be there for a week

In thinking this is the route we will go. We are both older and it’s not our first marriage. I envision renting a big house at the beach for a few days and getting married with just immediate family. Then, the next weekend have a huge BBQ at our house for friends and others who couldn’t make it. Hoping to do a honeymoon to Tahiti or Fiji.
