I gained about 19 lbs between finishing highschool (age 17) and 25. It crept on so slowly, I didn’t notice it until I realised my wedding was coming up and so I want to look my best. I was wondering how common this is… have you gained weight since highschool into your early 20s?
If so what do you think the reason was? Are you trying to lose it again or are you happy with your weight as it is?

Um, YES. I’m 30 pounds heavier than I was when I graduated high school, I’m 25 now. I didn’t gain much at first but in the last 3 years it’s just crept up. It sucks but I never realized how much I was on the go while a teen.

Not me, I’ve always been between 92 and 100lbs which is low weight for my height 5’2′. I wish I was at least 115lbs but it just never happens.

Yes absolutely and I’m horrified by how much. I’m 27 and like you, it’s crept on slowly the past 10 years but I’m making a change now. I’ve gained about 30 pounds and pretty much hate the way I look. I’m borderline overweight but don’t necessarily look it because I’m tall. I carry all my weight in my lower stomach and hips so even though I can wear the same size tops I always have, I can’t fit into the pants I normally would so changes have to be made because I refuse to buy pants in a larger size. Mine is a diet issue because the past year especially my husband and I will come up with excuses to buy ice cream or other desserts. That used to be a monthly treat for me when I was younger but it became a weekly, sometimes several days in a row thing so I’m putting a stop to that. My husband is going to be out of town a lot over the next year for work, so I’m using this chance to make better choices for myself so I don’t keep sabotaging myself everytime he suggests we get ice cream or other fattening snacks.

Yeah. I’ll be 26 next month. I’ve only gaied about 5lbs since high school, but in college I had dropped 10lbs since high school, so I’m up 15 from junior year of college. Super bummer. I’m trying to get it off again, but its seriously hard now that I’m at a desk job. ugh.

nope, but I was bulimic and weighed MORE in high school than now, I really screwed up my metabolism.

No, I didn’t gain weight until my 30’s and it was welcomed. I was over being a size 0 lol. Now I’m a 4, sometimes a 2 or 6 depending on the cut and fabric.

Yup. Gained a fair amount later in college and my first year out. Lost it all but it’s back again 10+ years later. Actively working on it. I can honestly say that even though I weigh the same now, I’m much healthier than I was back then – much more active and eat better than I did.

No, I’ve always been slim, my mother said “when you have a child you’ll gain” unfortunately for me pregnancy causes me to lose a lot of weight so now I weigh less than High School which is not good, I was 98 in HS and now I’m 93.

My last two years of college I put on about 20 pounds, but I started out pretty underweight so I actually feel pretty healthy at my current weight. Plus I finally have boobies (went from a B to DD) which is awesome! haha
ETA: the reason for the weight gain was that’s when I met my fiance. We call it our “happy fat.” I always had a weird relationship with food and didnt like eating around people unless I was super comfortable with them so I wouldnt eat much when I was with my ex. That all changed when I met Fiance. Luckily, I’m at my set point weight so I havent gained any more. I would probably start making lifestyle changes if I went over 145.

No, I’ve also always been between 92 lbs – 100 lbs. I’ve been trying to gain weight to be at least 110 lbs without any success because of my eating disorder messing up my metabolism.

Yeah.. I’m 24 and I went from 125 when I was 20, to 150 now, but I’m 5,6 so I don’t look fat. But I wan to lose 10 pounds by march as I feel my ideal weight is 140. But I mainly think it happened because I started going to the gym, my appetite increased and then I stopped exercising and didn’t reduce my food intake. That’s the main reason I can find for it, so now I started working on both my apetite and exercising too.

I wonder if I have unrealistic expectations of myself because my weight was so low in highschool – I was an athlete and did hours of cardio everyday and was borderline underweight. Alot of people thought I had an eating disorder (which I didn’t, I was just a growing teenager who did alot of excercise) so I constantly had people telling me to eat and eat…which I then did haha. I’m trying to find a new goal weight now, I don’t feel the need to be that thin again but I want to be slimmer then I am now.
Interestingly, moving back to my hot home state this year has also made me very aware of my body in a way that I havent been for a while – it’s a perpetual shorts season where I live now!

Yes. I’m 5’1 and fairly petite and was between 85-95 pounds in high school. Now I’m about 115 and 25.
It’s still considered a healthy weight for my height, but it just doesn’t look right on my frame.
For the most part I eat better now (thanks law school for making me fat ever finals period), and I’ve started doing pilates and biking, so here’s hoping that I’ll look better!

I was that same weight until I was like 19, and I started going to the gym, and eating healthier between foods too, and that helped.
