Just wondering if you all were able to get the proofs from the engagement shoot on a CD? It was like pulling teeth to get ours (even after spending $1500 on an enlargement), and even then, they didn’t include all the proofs, just the ones they thought looked ok, and then they added a vintage tone on a lot of them that I didn’t like. I was kinda hoping they could give me another CD with the photos unedited, and with more of the photos. Is this asking too much since they didn’t really want to give me the proofs on CD in the first place? I hate to ask, but I would really like the CD so I can make small copies for grandparents and stuff without the weird colours.
What did you all get?

We got a print of each picture plus a CD of proofs with rights to all the pics for our wedding and epics

We got a website and a cd with all of our pictures on it, along with all copyrights to own the pictures. Which means we can print them anywhere we want.

Ok thanks, that’s what I need, but I just feel bad to ask, wasn’t sure what the norm was!

No we didn’t. Not unedited, not the ones I bought, none of them. And they WON’T give them to us, even if we pay.

@Oneeleven: Did you sign a contract that stated you should get them? I know that now, its really common to either get them as a package, or at least say up front that you have to pay $Xx more to get them

No, he told us before hand when I asked that we had to buy the hard copy. on his website, it says you can buy the ‘negatives’ but then when it came time, he meant we could buy the photo, not the digital version, no matter what. I never signed any type of contract with this guy and still have not
I have a whole big long thread somewhere with the deets and I don’t want to jack op’s thread 🙂
I have def learned a lot from the experience!, so that is a good thing.
Hope OP gets to have the photos she wants :)))

We get a website where we can purchase prints from them directly and they are also giving us a CD with about 50 of the best images with printing rights. BUT, this was all decided before hand and put in a contract that we signed with them.

We got a high res. disc of all our edited pictures. Our photographer is fabulous.

We did not get a CD of our epics (but it was part of our contract, so it was expected). It’s actually pretty common in my area that photographers do not include the rights to epics as part of the packages, but you can buy prints and/or digital rights to single photos.

@Lauren10.8.11: “We got a website and a cd with all of our pictures on it, along with all copyrights to own the pictures. Which means we can print them anywhere we want.” EXACTLY what she said!

We got a CD of high resolution photos and license to reprint and redistribute. She also provided us copies in a smaller size so we wouldn’t have to resize them if we wanted to share on facebook or through email 🙂
Your photographer probably won’t give you unedited photos – and I don’t think it’s fair to ask for them. If I were a photographer I wouldn’t want people editing my photos and then telling everyone it was my work.

I had a friendor do our engagement pics (she’s a professional photog). She gave us all of the shots, edited and unedited, on a disc. We didn’t get any prints from her, but with the rights to the images I can get as many as I like wherever I like.

Our engagement photos were free with the wedding package, so we did not get a CD. We were able to choose the ones that we wanted and purchase the digital files and/or the prints. This was all decided on beforehand, so no suprises there. For the wedding photos, we get a CD with all photos and rights

We got a CD of high resolution photos and license to reprint and redistribute. But that was part of what we paid for up front. Not all photographers include a CD of the images in their package.
