We got a cd with all our pictures edited and unedited as well as full rights to print. Our photographer even used one of our pics as the cd art! I loved it! 🙂

i would never give un-edited images go.  but then i also wouldnt have edited them vintage either.  if i do a special effect i always include the original aswell.   the edited  version is MY vision,  but its not everyones.

We got all our photos in high resolution on CD and all edited, (some both color and B&M).  Our photographers are awesome.

No, we do not. We only get the photos albums (the good type) for engagement session and wedding. No CD. If we want the CD we can buy it for $1,500 or spend extra $1,000 to buy the extra pictures, then we get the CD.

@anne B: Agreed. Normally if a client purchases digital files, I give both the straight edit along with say, the vintage, if I did that on a few. A lot of photogs are relying on trendy actions to hide the fact that the regular shot didn’t work (bad exposure, for instance).

@europomme: if it helps, you should be asking for the digital file “with a reproduction release” — not a copyright release. I do know photogs who include a small digital file with a large print. However, no pros that I know will give you access to every photo shot. They will pull the best. Say I shoot 100 frames — I cull that down to 30 or so. That is all that will be shown; the rest are deleted. Amateurs are notorious for showing everything — the good, the bad & the ugly.

good luck!

We got all of the pictures in high res on CDs for both our epictures and our wedding pictures.

We also got hard copies of most of the wedding pictures, but not the epictures.

We would have gotten all of the hard copies of the wedding pictures, but our photographers printer went on the blink.

That didn’t matter to us though because we also got full rights to the pictures on the CDs to use however we want and both Shutterfly and Snapfish have specials all the time where we can get quality photos for either free or really cheap.

I forgot to add, we also got a website photo album for our epictures and our wedding pictures that we can purchase from too.

Sounds like u are working with a high end photographer, and they tend to not sell digital files, they want to supply the prints instead of you doing it yourself.

@blu77:

snap! ……..

i cull ,  delete blinks and doubles.  the clients get the best i took.  and as long as i have given them the amount they were promised,  why give more for free?

@europomme: Ah, so they showed you the full take? Honestly, I am in quite a few organizations and literally know hundreds of pros and I don’t know of any photogs doing that which makes me wonder if this person is just starting out? That would give me pause, you know?

I’m sorry you were unhappy with the results — you may want to consider what you want to do for the future… If you’d like me to review his portfolio and give you an opinion, I’m more than willing, just PM me.

So, our engagement session was included in our wedding photography package. Our photog normally promises a CD with at least ten of the best images from the session (high res images that can be printed wherever), and an 11×14 print of the photo of our choice. Our disc had 40+ photos.
