    Yes, and I regret it.

    Yes, and I love it.

No, and I wish I did.

No, but I love it now.

I had no preference, but I wish it was a different size.

I had no preference, and I love it.

I didn’t care what size it was, just as long as it wasn’t over a caret. My husband chose a small, delicate diamond and I am smitten.

When we decided to get a diamond ring, I started out looking at stones from the .50-.80 range, not wanting to spend too much. The diamond I fell in love with and was hinting heavily towards was somewhere in the .70 range. I basically told him i wanted a heart shaped diamond and my 4C priorities. I was pretty surprised when I found out he got me a 1.05 carat stone. I love it! And I love that he surprised me with something a little bit bigger than I was expecting.

@mrspinesol:  Honestly I thought that’s how I’d feel at first, until he took me ring shopping and we began trying them on. Orginally I wanted a white sapphire, that was either the samel size or a little bigger, and quickly found out most chain jewelry stores don’t have a really good selection of them. Our budget didn’t allow us to buy a diamond in that size or even close. We ended up finding a beautiful Tacori at a pawn shop and I tried it on for fun and it just made us just go WOW. I figured that since I’d like two wedding bands that I’d get the finger coverage I had before, but now it’ll be sparkly finger coverage lol

I knew I wanted 2.5 carats or larger since I have big hands (7-7.5). I looked at a 4 carat diamond and it was too big. I am a school teacher after all. I settled for a 2.86 carat which is just PERFECT. πŸ™‚

I vassilated between 1 and 1.25 carats, but since we were really young and getting moissanite, I thought if I went too big people would be weirded out. My husband’s family is not wealthy, and we both have professions that don’t pay that well. I honestly wondered if 1.25 would be too much. So I asked for 1 carat. I’m not going to go and announce to all my coworkers that it’s moissanite. Just yesterday I had a coworker ask if my 1 carat was “real,” (which was totally weird!) so I’m glad I didn’t go larger. Sometimes when I see a photo of a 1.25 I’m like daaammmn that’s perfect! But my ring is amazing. I stare at it all the time and I love it. I think everyone gets shrinkage sometimes πŸ™‚

My ring was custom made, I asked for a 1ct diamond and got a 2.5 diamond with a total weight of 3 cts. I’m a 5.5 finger πŸ™‚

I didn’t vote, since I never wanted a diamond I had no size expectation. πŸ™‚ The only thing that was important to me was to be included in the process and blue sapphires baby! Sadly he forgot that conversation and suprised me with a very lovely diamond anniversary band (he wanted something that I would never have to worry about losing stones, catching it on clothing and that I would wear all the time). I did ask the total carat once and got ‘Dunno, enough?’ What a cutie!

@mrspinesol:  I had no expectations on my engagement ring — and my ring was a complete surprise. My now-husband nailed it with what he chose for me — and I think it’s that much more beautiful because HE chose it.

(Edit: My ring has a .74 center stone and on my less-than-size-4 finger, anything larger would look like a Ring Pop on me.)

In My Humble Opinion, I think it’s leaps and bounds more meaningful when your boyfriend picks out the ring himself without your guidance.

@mrspinesol:  I wanted 1 carat but told Fiance that smaller would be perfectly fine too. I got 1 carat though and it’s perfect πŸ™‚
