    Yes, and I regret it.

    Yes, and I love it.

No, and I wish I did.

No, but I love it now.

I had no preference, but I wish it was a different size.

I had no preference, and I love it.

I have a Ruby and the jeweler had DH pick between six stones between 1 and 1.5 carats. I was hoping for 1.5 bit he went with 1 because my hands are so small. I love my ring though.

Good quality yellow diamonds are quite expensive, so I was pleasantly surprised that a 1.33 carat fit into our budget.

I was looking at up to 1.75ish white diamonds (good quality ones), but I wanted a yellow.

I guess if we were rich I would have gotten something much larger, but since we’re not, I am very happy with the size!

@mrspinesol:  I’m an 8 so I needed bigger than many people to feel it wasn’t too small. I also have a halo though and I would’ve been happy with an 8×6 in the halo I chose…but of course I didn’t know that then lol

I’ll include a pic for a visual =) The center area was made for a 9×7 so it would’ve been a tad bit smaller with an 8×6. My jeweler had to improvise when the stone went down the .5x.5 and put a gold ring around the center to hold the stone up but you can’t really tell unless you’re looking at it super close

Yes, I got the stone size I wanted – it’s a Round Brilliant 1.26 ct.  I told Fiance I wanted a ring with at least a carat.  Originally he picked a stone that was 1.8 ct but at the last minute right before he made the purchase, he saw my diamond where the quality was almost flawless (vvs1) and the color was superb (F) but the size was smaller.  He called me and asked which one I would want more (I hadn’t seen either stone) and I told him I’d let him choose.  He chose quality over size.  I absolutely love my diamond, it’s crazy how much it sparkles.  Sometimes I wonder what it would’ve been like if I went with the 1.8 ct, but those feelings go away every time I look at my hand.  Quality makes such a HUGE difference!

@mrspinesol:  Hard for me to answer your poll because I knew OH had an heirloom stone before we ever talked about getting engaged, so I knew what it would be before I formed a preference, if that makes sense. It is a tad smaller than my friends’ and co-workers’ but not very much so, and I love it! I cannot wait to add my band (with accent rubies)! Also, we could have put it in a blingy setting, which I always love on others, but every time I considered it I was like uh but all my other jewelry is on the simple, small side, and that’s just more me! Ring, and everyday necklace, for reference 🙂

I had no idea what size stone I wanted specifically, but I thought it would be 1-1.25ct.  I ended up with a 1.65 center (2.2tw) and I looove it.  Fiance apparently looked at a few 1.75-1.85ct stones with similar specs but fell in love with this specific stone. I couldn’t be happier

In a perfect world if I wanted to work in a big fancy corporate office and live out in McLean and Potomac, I’d have gotten a 3.5-4ct stone. I’m a ring size 8, tall and curvy, so I think I could have pulled it off lol However in the real world, I work for a nonprofit and I live in the city…so with 2.27 ct I think I chose the max size that would be appropriate for my life right now…I’d never ask but if he wants to upgrade me later, I won’t refuse.

My “goal” was always 1ct. but I never thought we could afford it while still getting a super high-quality stone! So I assumed I’d get .5 to .75 carats.

Luckily, DH and the jeweler conspired together, found a discontinued setting, and made a 1ct center happen! It’s INCREDIBLE–and the setting has five channel-set diamonds on each side (we were both born in May), and 11 stones total (5/11 was our wedding date!)

I told DH to get me the best he could. That’s what he did. I LOVE my engagement ring.

@QuirkySocialite:  We live near each other :D. Corporate work is meh, and most of the rings I see there are smaller than mine which has a sapphire the size of a 2 carat diamond.

I love my stone! I originally was looking at a 1 carat sapphire. Hubs found out a 1 carat sapphire is about the size of a .75 carat diamond and said NOPE! He wanted bigger! He was pushing for 3-4 carats. We got a 2.36 the size of a 2 carat diamond. When I saw the stone I was like jesus that is huge, and he got all giddy so I couldnt say no. In the end he’s glad he didnt push for bigger because my hands are tiny and the 3 carat diamond size he was consiering would have looked a little silly on my hands. I am happy he talked me up though because I never have ring size envy 🙂 I just love it any bigger as stated would have been too much, but I never wonder what if I’d gone larger. ITs the perfect size.

I didn’t vote because as stated my ideal was smaller originally, and his was larger. We met in the middle and found a perfect medium.

First time round, it was the early 1980s and Gold & Interest Rates were thru the roof (22% up to aprox 33% for a Credit Card)

Consequently, a lot of gals who married then got rings that were mostly Gold, with not a lot of money left over for Diamonds, I was one of them (think my ERing was somewhere around 0.20)

    This time round…

I wanted something a tad bigger, and a lot more quality than my last ERing (and my Marriage, lol.  With age comes wisdom, clarity and the understanding of what is and isn’t good value, in jewellery & men)

I had my mind’s eye set on around 0.50 if we did a Feature Diamond… up to 3 Carats if we did a Cocktail ring with lots of bling (which is what I had my heart set on)

In the end we found Rings that we both love… so much so that we call it OUR ERing

I got the unique setting, and the bling.  He got the feature diamond… it is a 0.80 Good Cut – SI Clarity – F Colour.

My Sparkly WBand (I also have a Plain one) is just over a 1/2 Carat Eternity… similar Quality.

Both rings are GIA Certified, Conflict Free / Canadian Diamonds.  And combined I now sport close to 2.5 Carats on my ring finger.  Perfect for me.  Perfect for us.

Here is a pic with my 2 Rings worn together.

    Hope this helps,
