    Yes, and I regret it.

    Yes, and I love it.

No, and I wish I did.

No, but I love it now.

I had no preference, but I wish it was a different size.

I had no preference, and I love it.

Well, I really didn’t have any choice in the matter, but I’m still very happy with the size of my stone.  After wearing my ring for 8 months, I wouldn’t go with something larger (or smaller).

Fiance and I picked out the ring together, and going into it we both knew we’d get a ring with a garnet center stone.  The store had gorgeous cushion-cut garnets on-site, but only in one size – 6 mm, or ~1.1 carats.  True, cushions size up smaller than rounds, but I love the way the stone looks on my size 6 finger, so I’m very happy.

I didn’t have a size in mind, and didn’t request any specific size at all.  Just didn’t care.  Then I received an heirloom stone from my grandmother, so I didn’t have a say.  Love it! ๐Ÿ™‚

I got the exact ring I wanted : )  Perfect size for me, 1.65 ct (he wanted 1.75-2 ct) but I fell in love with my stone which was ordered loose.  I only have a couple of pics, I need to figure out how to take pics of my ring so they don’t come out huge…..and god my hands look wrinkly close up!

@Phamnomenon:  Beautiful. My mother has a garnet and she’s worn it for years it still looks like new. I love her ring :). Purple was more my speed though.

    @Phamnomenon:  I adore your ring.

My center stone is 1 carat, and my ring has a halo that adds a bit of finger coverage. I didn’t have a specific ‘size’ I wanted, but I knew anything from .3-1.25 would be okay with me. I’m glad DH went with 1 carat! It looks perfect on my hand.

@QuirkySocialite:  TV stations doesnt surprise me. I work in contracting. Big money to be made there in the right environment and we both work in sectors that are rather difficult to get into. So I’ve seen some expensive purses, rings, etc. TV however would likely trump that easily. My hubs just wanted big on his own accord.

I had always thought I wanted a large center stone, but I’m happy with what I got! I don’t know the exact specs without finding that little card and looking.

This is a kind of tough one for me to answer. I have mixed feelings about my stone size. I originally wanted at least a full carat, but the only way my fiance could afford that would be to buy one off of ebay , but you just never know if you are being swindled. So we nixed that idea. When we finally went to pick out the ring together, the one I fell in love with was a half carat diamond set in a cathedral setting with pave diamonds down the band. Even this ring was over budget, but it is the one I fell in love with so it is the one my Fiance got.

I still love my ring. It is very feminine, pretty, and sparkly. I just wish that we could have afforded a slightly bigger diamond, something at least 3/4 carats. Actually, the truth is that my Fiance probably could afford a bigger diamond, but he is also trying really hard to save up money for a downpayment on a house. So I felt guilty asking him to spend any more than he already was.

Anyway, my answer still rests at undecided. Yes, I got the diamond/ring I wanted and picked out, but I still wish I could have gotten a slightly bigger diamond. But there is always time to upgrade, but I doubt I will care enough to do that once we have house that needs furniture!

I really wanted a blue diamond but damn those prices. So now I want a blue sapphire that’s the perfect shade of blue for me ๐Ÿ™‚ and between 1-2 carats equivalent.

When we went shopping together, it was more important to me to find the right setting.  My husband would have gotten me a solitare, but I wanted side stones.

So once we picked it out, I basically said it’s up to him to pick the carat size cuz I knew what he could and could not afford.

I liked how the 1.25 stone looked, and ended up with a 1.18… so 0.7 less than what I liked on me.  (I’d love to have like a 1.50 cuz it sounds frigin huge to me!) Wink

Yes, I initially wanted a 2ct Round Brilliant since I have small fingers but Fiance surprised me with a 2.6ct and I’m totally in love with it!
