    Yes, and I regret it.

    Yes, and I love it.

No, and I wish I did.

No, but I love it now.

I had no preference, but I wish it was a different size.

I had no preference, and I love it.

I love my (center) stone and it’s larger than I was even expecting.

I voted, “No, but I love it now” because I had no size expectations of any kind.  I honestly had never thought about rings prior to talking about engagement with him. My husband picked out my ring 100% by himself and I was surprised at the size (in a good way!!).

Yes.  I was proposed to with a .55 beautiful solitaire, and it was exactly what I wanted.  After 8 years, I think it shrunk a little, and my husband suggested we upgrade…lol.  I was looking for a 1 carat, and ended up falling in love with a 1.21.  I’m every happy with it, and will never change it.  It looks just like my original (as far as specs), just bigger. :). Personally, anything bigger wouldn’t look good on my hand.

I got a 1.36ct moissy for mine and now that I have it, I wish we had gone bigger. 🙁 I don’t know why, but whenever I see it in my jewelry box, the center stone looks so tiny! Fiance says I am crazy and that if we had gone larger, it would look silly, but I disagree. I think 1.5 would be ideal, but perhaps a 1.75 ish? I hate that I think that because I feel like a spoiled brat saying it but…can’t help it!

@joya_aspera:  What a lovely way to put it… Take size out of the equation by having an average size! Mine is an average size for my area, and I’ve never thought of it like this before. You’re right- the carat race is just awful and it would be nice if our stupid brains wouldn’t go there. I remember you saying that your stone has some amazing specs, so I imagine it is very beautiful.

@mrspinesol:  I wanted a center stone that I thought looked proportional on my short fingers, and I received the exact size I had envisioned. I sometimes wish I had gone just a teeny bit bigger, since I’ve experienced some “diamond shrinkage” but am overall still VERY happy with my ring. The size really does look nice, and the particular diamond we chose is stunning.

The funny thing is, when I put a larger ring on my hand I STILL don’t like them (on me) but I LOVE them on other people. I still wanted blingy, so I thought I’d try something blingier for my wedding band. I still didn’t like anything large once it was on though! We ordered a 2.5mm eternity band that will walk the line perfectly.

It’s a silly argument in my head. “I want big pretty diamonds” VS “I don’t really like how they look on me”, haha.

@Fizzy8:  Thank you! I like the fact that it’s quite unique. I have yet to meet someone with a heart shape diamond like mine.

I got a .5 ct and that is fine with me. Its just a ring. I already have two diamond rings I do not wear and I rarely wear this one unless we are going out or its a holiday.

When we went shopping, I told FI I wanted a carat (we are older).  We looked at a ring with a beautiful 1.33 diamond- I LOVED it!!  Fiance ended up getting a 1.25… still bigger than what I asked for- I’ve been noticing some shrinkage lately and fantasize about the 1.33.  I just have a CZ for now and we will be getting the diamond when we can afford (I was getting antsy about getting engaged since he had promised he would propose almost a year before he actually did).  I love my ring, but it will be nice to get the diamond one day! 🙂

Yes.  I knew I wanted a bridge type setting and a 0.4 ct diamond (to me it’s just the perfect size) but couldn’t find both of those things in the same ring for over a year.  We had looked in every jewellery store in the city except one, and everytime we intended to look there something would come up (it was even robbed once about 5 minutes before we arrived!).  When we finally did go in a year after we started our seach, we looked around and I didn’t see anything I liked.  I was about to leave when my fiance spotted a setting he knew I’d love and the diamond in it was definitely under 0.7 ct.  When he asked the sales lady what size the diamond was she hesistantly answered 0.4 ct, probably expecting that I’d want something larger.  I couldn’t believe that we had finally found the ring and it even came in under budget.  The ring in the store was set in rose gold but we ordered it in white gold.  Despite picking out my own ring I was still surprised when he proposed because I’d never seen it in white gold before.  It was even more beautiful then I remembered.

I didn’t care much about the size of my center stone, and either way I knew our budget didn’t allow for a huge rock. I ended up with a 0.39 ct center. One rude girl told me she couldn’t believe Fiance would get me something so small (should have smacked her with it, then she could’ve let me know if the mark on her face was “too small”!). I think it’s perfect for me. I have tiny fingers anyway, so anything bigger would probably look ridiculous on me! 🙂

I only cared about having my favorite designer create my ring. I had admired their work for years at museums, online, etc… When the time came we discovered they would do a custom piece for me. I was in heaven. I didn’t care about a diamond after that – only cared the my ring was going to be done by this incredible designer.

Luckily my husband still cared about getting a good diamond. I told him i didn’t really care about the diamond as long as it worked with the design. I said don’t go over .5 carat. He didn’t listen. He got a beautiful diamond, much larger than .5. I gasped when I finally got to see the ring and stone together. I still love looking at it on my hand. My husband is thrilled he made me so happy by going above and beyond all my expectations.

@ladydawg86:  I love the art deco rings with sapphire. Your ring would be be stunning even without a halo. (in fact I love solitaires with the art deco bands). Rude girl didn’t know wtf she was talking about. I’d rather have a beautiful ring will an elegant small center stone, than a ugly ring with a big honking diamond. Your ring is beautiful and classy.
