lori85 :  True! I just don’t want to scare him haha, he knows the store and I gave him a business card with the store manager’s info on it. When I went in and spoke with her about the ring, we discussed what I liked and she said if he came in she would be able to present him with a few options varying in price so hopefully that happens haha.

I just need to step away from it, I feel like I have talked about it enough and I am trying very hard not to bring it up to him ever again so I can preserve some of the surprise at least. I forwarded him an e-mail recently about a bridal sale at the store that is happening until January 1st, so that will be the last thing I point out hahaha.

nordiclight :  fair enough! Well I am sure he will do a good job πŸ™‚ My Fiance picked it out all on his own and I love it. I had shown him photos of rings I loved throughout the 3 years we’ve been together and he chose me my dream ring. So here’s hoping you have the same thing happen with yours πŸ™‚

lori85 : For sure, I am sure I will love it no matter what the specs of the stone, when you go in and try a few of the same ring on and compare them side by side it is easy to get caught up in the details but I will be getting the exact ring I love, whatever the size/colour/clarity I will love it of course πŸ™‚

    1cat :

First of all, my husband and I have discussed about the budget how much he wanted to spend on my e-ring.  I did some research about cut, color and etc. Becuase he knew how picky I am.  He always let me choose birthday and anniversary gifts myself as I will not wear things I don’t 100% in love with it so finally I picked out the design and my husband chose the diamond.  It was the ring I absolutely wanted even though I already reset it once so it fits with wedding band.

I had always wanted a halo setting with either a princess or cushion cut. My Fiance and I went ring shoppping, because he wanted to make sure that I picked out the ring that I would love. I had been crushing on the Neil Lane Bridal Sets and this one caught my heart. My Fiance knew that it was the one based on the look on my face lol. I tried on a bunch after trying this one on, but I fell in love with this one.

    Sorry for the large photos!

Yep, I got exactly what I wanted because Fiance and I went shopping together. It was a team effort, but luckily we both loved what I ended up choosing!

SavannahJ051212 :  wow, that is um, er, pretty different. Maybe to him it is not?

That said, I do like your ring, it is simple and classic. I. Mean, there is not a more classic ring than a yellow gold solitaire, and the dip on either side gives it a bit of flair. i think you must like things that are on the “stylish” side rather than “classic” though.

My Fiance was so incredibly kind and happy for me to pick out my set. He said it was important to him that I found something I liked (and vice versa for him). We have been together 10 years, so there’s lot of history (and time :P) for us to get to know each other and our styles. Plus I used to sell jewellery before our relationship and have a ‘guady’ collection (chunky standout pieces) so he wanted my input on finding the right piece. I have enjoyed the process, but there is a little part of me that said to myself “this would have been a lot easier if he just picked it” πŸ˜› I do love that we got to be a part of each other’s ring experience though πŸ™‚

FauxPas2012 :  Thank you!  Yeah, he likes more traditional while I like to have things that are a little different.  He thought diamonds were the thing to buy, he’s slowly learning from me.  After almost 5 years, I’ve definitely become attached to it.
