We ate, but in a huge hurry.  I snacked a tiny bit at the cocktail hour, but not much because I was always moving and talking to people.  I didn’t really eat my salad (I was in the bathroom).  I scarfed down my entree, and then DH and I made the table rounds while everyone else was eating.  And my only bite of cake what was DH fed me.

The only time I really ate (other than the dinner entree) was right after the ceremony.  We had a Jewish wedding, and right after we got married we had “yichud” which is when the bride and groom go off by themselves for a little bit to cement their bond.  Our DOC had arranged for a bottle of champagne and a cheese plate to be in the room, and once I took off my shoes, DH and I ate and drank and snuggled for 20 minutes before rejoining the party.  I’d definitely recommend it (even if you’re not Jewish)!

I totally thought I’d dig into my delish dinner at our wedding, but I just could. not. eat.!!  (and i love to eat!!  ๐Ÿ™‚  )I think all of the emotion, nerves, excitement just made it impossible.  I made myself a plate, sat down, maybe had 1 or 2 bites, but my belly was not interested in food OR alcohol!!  I never understood when brides said they couldn’t eat at their wedding, but after my experience, I totally understand.  My problem wasn’t even being distracted by guests… oh well, everyone raved about the food.  i’m glad our guests enjoyed it.  don’t worry about eating, or not eating, just do whatever is best for you in that moment!  ๐Ÿ™‚

Of course we are eating!  Unless you are nervous and feel like vomitting, why wouldn’t you?

We had a buffet brunch reception, and we went through the buffet first. We filled our plates and went to our sweetheart table, and scarfed our food down while everyone else was heaping food on their plates. I shouldn’t say we scarfed though– I was bound and determined to eat that yummy brunch food, so I finished my plate. DH was too worked up and ate just a little bit. We were able to make the rounds to visit with our guests after I was done.

If eating is important to you, make sure your parents and DOC know so that they’ll give you 10-15 mins or so to eat without pulling you away.

We both ate!!  We had a buffet dinner for our at-home wedding, and someone had to tell us to start because no one would start the buffet until we did, lol.  Then we sat down and ate our dinners.  It was great.

In our families we get our food first, and eat until guests are settled. I am a GOOD eatter. Plus, the only thing other than the beer Fiance is excited about it the food. lol

My DJ/bartending manager did say though alot of weddings she has done the bride eats very little. She offered to make sure that if after dinner to ask the caterer to make up left over plates for us, and keep it safe since she wont be leaving until we do. (she is AWESOME!!!)

We ate. We had a plated dinner. It was sooo good. The servers were really quick. They served the head table and then quickly served everyone else. We ate while everyone else was beginning to eat as well.

We also had a receiving line after the ceremony. So, I wasnt under alot of stress to personally go say hi to everyone right away.

One thing I am bummed about – we missed the passed appetizers. During cocktail hour, we were taking pics with the photographer. We had the servers go grab us a few, but some choices were already gone. The mini grilled cheese sandwiches went so fast that we didnt get any. Guests were raving about them all night. I still wished we had gotten to try them. We ordered 800 apps for 67 guests – they didnt last long. I was shocked. I was sure we ordered too much. We had a hungry crowd.

Oh I definitely ate my entire meal and it was not rushed either.  There was no question that I was going to eat dinner – I was HUNGRY!   We missed most of cocktail hour as our photographer asked us if we wanted to do a few more pictures and we agreed, but we knew we were going to eat our dinner so it wasn’t a huge deal.

We did most of our pictures before the ceremony (we ran out of time, hence the additional few photos during cocktail hour) so that cut down on time of our reception we missed.  We also had our ceremony and reception at the same place (at a golf course) so there was no travel time between the two.   When we were announced into the reception, we went straight over to the cake table and cut the cake then so as not to be interrupted during dinner.  Once dinner was served, there weren’t any interruptions until the very end of dinner, when I happened to notice the sun was peeking through the clouds just before sunset (it had been overcast all day) and asked our photographer if we could get some pictures.   As a result, I missed dessert but that’s ok, there was leftover cake to eat later.

I know a lot of weddings I’ve been to, the couple circulates amongst the tables during dinner but we opted not to do that.  We had a receiving line as people were walking up from the ceremony space to the ballroom and so we greeted everyone then.   It worked out really well for us and as our food was spectacular, we were really, really glad we got to eat our entire meal!

I nibbled on my food. So, no, I did not eat my food.  I was just so busy. I would sit down and have a bite of food and look up and see a guest I haven’t greeted yet.  So I would have to get up.  I didn’t have a receiving line and although I didn’t want one, it would have been nice to greet everyone, so I wouldn’t have to do it during dinner.

I guess I would suggest to have food brought to the bride’s room so I could have some time alone to eat.  But then again, I would be too excited and gitty to eat.
