My husband and I ate at our reception. After all the time we spent picking out the food you better believe I was going to eat it! We had a buffet and the main coordinator had us go up to get our food first. That way we got to eat while everyone else was going up to get their food. I also made sure I got to eat a piece of cake.

I didn’t really get to eat the appetizers from the cocktail hour nor the candy from the candy buffet but that wasn’t a big deal to me.

i’ve heard both: bride and groom get to eat and others that haven’t. and one couple that told me the groom got 2 meals because he ws really hungry and asked for another.

i plan to eat ..just as i plan to drink..and dance…i figure i am paying a lot of money for all of these things so i want to enjoy alll of them to the max!!!!! {edit}i hope i’m not being unrealistic abot this statement!

Luckily its customary in these parts for the bridal party to be served their food first. Usually they then eat while the rest of the reception is getting their food and then once everyone has it the toasts start. All the weddings I have been to here, I have never not seen the bride and groom eat.

Oh my dear lord I can not even THINK about NOT eating! LOL!

Seriously, we are on such a tight budget, but my mom is paying for the catering. We have picked out what we wanted, and I am going to eat my heart away and I really don’t even care if I take forever since I’m such a slow eater. But I doubt I will be able to eat before hand, so I am going to be starving by the time we go to the reception. I’M EATING! and I’m eating EVERYTHING! haha

We barely ate at our wedding…kind of a bummer since we paid a lot for food. I think the emotions and nerves that my fiance and I had through out the day got the best of us and we just weren’t hungry for dinner…

We had a cocktail style reception as well with heavy apps. We had the caterer make us a plate and we forced ourselves to eat during the reception. I literally felt sick and the last thing I wanted to do was eat, but the food was so good and we wanted to taste it, damnit!

I will say that eating took a lot of effort though and I totally understand how you could not feel like eating or just skip it all together. But, you need fuel to keep going through the night!

My Fiance said we are going to eat! No need to talk to guests while they are eating he says. They can talk afterwards. It is a small wedding too (52 guests) mostly family. I am not paying for our plates for them to sit there! I get cranky if I don’t eat!

I made a plate, and I had time.. but with the stress, and the anxiety of the day, I just wasn’t hungry!

I wish I had though, because the pictures look really good! 🙂

We ate. Our venue coordinator who pretty much runs the show made sure that we ate and that no one was going to get in the way of that! He said he had no shame of dragging people away if they came and wanted to chat with us the whole time. Luckily, only one guest came to say hello and everyone else just enjoyed their dinner.

Yes. This is the #1 reason we are having a 3-course sit-down meal!

I ate as much as my stomach could handle. I had severe stomach cramps/nausea early in the morning so while I was starving (ate an english muffin sometime during the day and a lot of tea) I could only eat probably half of the dinner but we made  a point to eat! We only had 75 guests so it was easier to see everyone throughout the evening. I made some of the rounds between the salad and main and I was shooed to my seat by people. I also had time for desert of course.

DH scarfed everything on his plate and most of what was on mine so we had time (I’m a fast eater regardless of the state of my stomach, he’s much slower)
