I gave an IOU for photobooks-I made photo cards for all members of the bridal party, and told them in theirs that we’d love to create an album for them once we have pictures. We’re going to mail them with Christmas presents this year. We also gave my mom, who paid for everything but the rings, honeymoon, and rehearsal dinner, a pretty earring and necklace set.

Not quite sure what we are doing for FI’s parents yet though here is one idea i have (i have asked them for copies of their wedding day photos as well as their parents on both sides) my dad owns a custom framing shop and i was going to have all three pictures framed and displayed on my cake table with my parents wedding photo and both sets of grandparents so i thought i would just give theirs as a present but i dont think its enough since i will be using them anyway…still  have to think on this one.

For my parents, i wanted to do something really special since they are fincancially helping us with the wedding. My parents love to go to Charelston SC and they usually stay at the marriott there with my dads rewards points, well i found this cute bed and breakfast down there that was reasonably priced about $400 for 2 days so i am booking them a weekend in the spring about 2 months after the wedding. My dad owns his store but doesnt have any employees so i picked a weekend where i could work the store for him while they go. I think they will really enjoy it because its right in the middle of downtown and all the action.

We got them photo canvases (got them with a Groupon deal).  They got to pick whichever professional wedding photo they wanted and we got the photo canvas printed for them!  Both sets of parents LOVED them!

I’m curious about gifts too, I hope to get ideas from this post.  My Future Mother-In-Law isn’t helping with a thing, financially or participating in the preparations for wedding or shower so she is getting as much as she put in.  My Future Father-In-Law is doing the rehearsal and my parents are paying for everything else but the honeymoon.

I am getting my mother a Pandora bracelet as a wedding gift and my dad and FFIL  Navy blazers from Jos a Bank. Still haven’t decided for Future Mother-In-Law… probably her favorite perfume and a spa gift card. We are doing the albums as Christmas gifts… LOVE the idea!

Yup. I gave my dad a FlipCam (a little self-serving, as I’d hoped he’d use it to take some reception video, which he did) and I gave my mom a pair of earrings to match her dress, along with a nice card thanking them for all their generosity (they paid for most of our wedding).

We bought each set of parents a Lladro (porcelain figurines from Spain). Both of our families collect them so they made the perfect gift.

We bought each set of parents coffee table books and wrote messages inside.  After the wedding, we made them photobooks.

We made a scrapebook of pictures of me and my husband growing up and dating.  Both books had the same pictures and basically the same layout.

I’ll be making each set a photobook after the wedding but we are also getting them each a gift certificate to bnbfinder.com. It’s a service that sells gift certfiicates that can be used at over 1500 bed and breakfasts. Since we live in Upstate, NY (not far from Vermont) there are tons of B&B’s to choose from.

Neither set of parents ever really goes away since money is kind of tight for everyone so we thought doing something like this would force them to take a mini vacation. We’ll also give them a coupon for free dog sitting, since they each have pups. After they decide where they are going, we’re going to get them each a gift certificate to a popular restaurant in the area so that we can treat them to dinner.

They have done so much for us, not just for our wedding but in general so we wanted to do something special for them.

We got our parents hotel accomodations for the night of our wedding, so they wouldn’t have to worry about getting home or driving in the first place.
