Hi Bees. 🙂
I’m not engaged yet, but I am pretty sure I will be sometime this winter. I know my So has purchased a beautiful ring, and I would like to give him an engagement present of some kind.
He doesn’t really wear rings (though I know he will happily wear a basic wedding ring). He works with his hands a lot, so I’m not sure if a really nice watch would be useful for him, but I know he would probably appreciate one. It would be nice if it’s not something that ends up really wearing out; I think he might like a wallet (and needs one) but somehow that doesn’t seem special enough.
What did you give your FI? Help me with ideas!

@Creiddylad: I didn’t give him an engagement gift, but I’ll be surprising him with a wedding gift!

I’m giving him $500 towards getting a computer screen he can illustrate on……I’m sure theres a name for it, and I’m sure he’s told me 100 times, but i’m not a computer person, so i always forget.

We went the traditional route (something long lasting and substantial that could become a family heirloom… such as jewellery) and we exchanged “Wedding Watches” in the hours before our Ceremony.
We both LOVE & treasure them
Hope this helps,

@This Time Round: It sounds like just the wedding gift is all– like an e-gift for the guy is very unusual!
@memo: That sounds like a fantastic gift. Hmmmm.. . my SO is really into miniature modeling, maybe something connected with his hobby would be good.
I’m surprised so many of you noticed this thread so fast! Hopefully more bees will share ideas still! 🙂

A man-gagement ring 🙂
ETA: Does you guy wear cufflinks to work ever? That could be a nice gift if so. Men do appreciate wallets very much (if they’re the right wallet for them), but they don’t last forever. That may or may not be a concern for you.
OH! Some guys are into money clips. These have the longevity factor because they are like jewelry, made of metal and maybe gems. But then again, not everyone uses money clips (for example Fiance and I find them odd for some reason. He actuallly has 2 money clips but never uses them. I never even had one myself, as I never saw a need).

@Creiddylad: Haha. Super busy at work here. 😉
I’m sure someone got their Fiance an engagement gift.
@This Time Round: That’s what I got Fiance for his wedding gift. 🙂 I got excited and pulled the trigger on it last month. It’s super neat, and pretty fancy; I hope he loves it!

@Creiddylad: Yep of course! I bought him a watch. I told him to pick out what he wanted and I sent him some suggestions of things I thought he would like. THe one I really wanted for him he originally said he didn’t like. THen, he tried it on at the store and loved it, so that’s what he got! I know him better then he does! 😉

To @Creiddylad: oops sorry, I misread… I could have swore the title of this post was for Wedding Presents between the Bride & Groom
E-Gifts are similar but different.
They can be a substantial gift like a W-Gift =OR= they can anything that you think would make your Man happy
As other Bees have noted, a lot of Women give Men ERings now.

@joya_aspera: I’ve thought of a ring, but I don’t know if he’d wear it. Plus I have no way to figure out his ring size secretly, and I’d like this to be a surprise! But if I CAN find out his ring size, I might. He works as a contractor, and as an editor from home, so he definitely doesn’t need to wear cufflinks to work. 🙂
@MrsWBS: I wonder where one finds nice, non-flashy watches? My SO wears very plain things, and I never shop for watches, so wouldn’t even know where to look for somethign he’d like (I’m guessing ones that jewelers have are too fancy for him).

@Creiddylad: We had some good sex. 🙂

He got a mangagement ring that we picked out together 🙂 Now he wears it on his right hand.

Once he proposes, we’re getting our puppy, so I told him that would be his engagement present from me.

@almostmrsj: Hahaha! That’s the only gift my SO wants for our engagement too 🙂 I asked!
