Me and my SO went (custom) ring shopping yesterday!! I thought this was pretty normal nowadays, but when he told his twin brother that we went shopping together his brother was shocked. He said something along the lines of “What?… I thought the man picked out the ring and the woman just TOOK the ring…” haha 🙂
So now I’m curious!

No. Our engagement was a complete surprise to me – especially because I knew his views on marriage when we first started dating. His grandfather offered FI’s great grandmother’s ring last Thanksgiving. FI decided to propose a month later on Christmas Eve.

We ordered our ring custom but went around to different places to get an idea of what everything would look like on my hand. We liked the same type of look (solitaire)

I didn’t. My husband gave me a family ring, so he didn’t even have to pick anything out anyway 🙂 But either way I’m glad I didn’t help, I liked it being a complete surprise. I had no idea a ring existed so everything was a complete surprise.
But I do get why people do go ring shopping. You have to wear the ring your whole life, you should love it!

That’s what I’m thinking! I’m also a super control freak, so I knew I wouldn’t trust him to know my “ring style” and he was happy to let me help! His brother was pretty surprised though – he said it was very unromantic to go shopping together. I can see his point though!

“No – But I showed him pictures of rings I wanted”
Mine would read “of the RING I wanted.” I already knew my size.

Fiance and I went shopping together and picked out the ring together. I tried some on that we both liked and the ring we actually got was one of his picks. Its perfect. We may be a little untraditional but I was even there when he bought the ring! Then when it came home he hid it for 3 months :/

no, i wanted to but he really felt strongly that it should be a surprise. he had a family stone though that he was having reset, so it was only the setting that needed to be decided

I picked exactly what I wanted, and had it custom made by a family jeweler. There are many things I trust my Fiance to do right, but buying me jewelry ain’t one of them

I didn’t go ring shopping. I brought it up but Fiance is traditional and really wanted to pick it out on his own. I was also completely surprised when he proposed, I wasn’t expecting it for another year. I did however show him styles of rings I liked, pictures or in the mall when we were shopping over the years so my ring is exactly what I would have picked out myself anyways.

Our story is a little weird. 16 years ago, we sat down together in the jewelry shop and picked out the ring together, even the wedding band. The relationship had its ups and downs and we ended up eventually parting ways. But I always kept the ring. Then three years ago, he proposed to me again with the original ring. I said yes. But the longer I wore it, the more I felt it was bad luck. So about a year later, I took him into the jewelry store ( I had been hinting I wanted a new ring, but men aren’t that smart, lol) and walked up to the guy and said I am looking for a princess cut ring, white gold, he showed me a few and I picked one! Easy schmeezy!!!! I LOVE my ring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely over the moon for it. It was an estate piece, which made it more affordable, but it is new to me 😀
Don’t worry what his brother says. EVERY ONE is different 😀

my option isn’t even up there.
i went with my parents… Fiance was only there via cellphone. There was a sale going on and Fiance was out of town while it was going on. We knew that getting it during this sale would be the best way to afford the ring we wanted.

Yes, he wanted me there for reassurence that he was going to pick out the right ring. We narrowed it down to 3 choices, and luckily he ended up picking my favorited!

I had NO idea my Fiance was even close to proposing when he did. I thought we had a couple more years until he would be ready so I was 100% shocked when he did. I had told him months before when he is ready to just pick it out himself I just want a quality diamond. Every Christmas and birthday he always gets me the perfects gifts so I knew that he would get me the perfect ring and he did! There is something very romantic about a man going in and picking out a ring he thinks his woman would love.

We went shopping together. I picked out the ring and was even there when it was purchased.
