My husband did not get his outfit at the same time his guys did.  We actually went looking for his suit together a few times, and found it by chance once when we were out shopping together for other stuff.  When he went with the guys to find their outfits, they went around on their own, but my sisters and I were at the same mall, so I dropped by to see the final product.

You could always let him go shopping to find it but stick around the area, and then come and see what he’s picked out at the end.  Do you only want to see your fiance in a tux, or are you worried he’ll pick something weird?

Yes, in fact I picked out the tux and vests.  He tired on and I approved. Though we did change the color of the vest from navy blue to silver because he liked the silver better.

My Fiance and I went for the first time with his father. It is “whatever I want them to wear” so it was ultimately up to me. They picked the shoes, shirts and ties to go with the suits I chose!

We were getting my fiance a new suit, but he definitely wanted me to go with him.  He just doesn’t like making major purchases like that without a second opinion, and I was happy to accompany him and have some input.  We ended up finding a great suit that we both love.

If you totally trust his judgment, and if he’s going with something very traditional, then it’s maybe not a big deal if he goes alone.  But I’d hate if I thought he was getting a classic black tux, and then he found a white coat with tails or something.  So I think you should at least talk about basic ideas, also to make sure it goes with the formality level of your dress and the setting of the event.

I plan on going. Maybe I can convince him to wear a bow tie!

Fiance wanted a “basic tux” and didn’t care much beyond that. I went with him, but he picked it out. Mostly, we decided it would be best for me to pick the vests so the groomsmen go with the bridesladies. And he ended up picking everything in the end; I kind of just signed off on it.

I didn’t get to see him try anything on, though. He had a jacket on while I was off admiring veils (see, he was pretty self directed. I kind of just went for fun…), but it was a different style and not the correct size, so I don’t really feel like it mattered. I can’t wait for his “reveal” just as much as my own!

He tried to make a bid for the camo vests, but I think that was mostly just to get a reaction out of me!

My Fiance found a bunch of suits he liked online (he as well as the groomsmen are buying them for the ceremony).  I “helped” him narrow them down and then went with him in person to try them on/order them.  We both love what we selected!

I didn’t think I needed to go with Fiance and his Groomsmen to look at tuxes. I just wanted to tell them what colors to get to coordinate with our wedding colors, but I’m glad he dragged me along with them because my original vision of colors didn’t look very good!!

I went with him.  We’re out of town from all our wedding party/family so it was me or going completely alone.  I also picked out the groomsmen tuxes while we were there and just gave them their measurements.

I’m going with FH in two hours for our tux appointment. He wants me along to pick out details he may miss (though he’s very opinionated as usual). This really isn’t anything new to me. I went with my prom date both years to pick out his tux- of course he had no idea what to pick.

I can’t vote because Fiance hasn’t gone to look at suits/tuxes yet. He wants to do it on his own, but I’m trying to talk him out of it. He recently admitted to me that he’s no good at putting outfits together (finally, after countless times I’ve asked him “are you really wearing those pants with that shirt??”) so maybe he’ll come to his senses soon and realize he needs my help!

I went with my FH to shop for his tux. He has a great sense of style, but he really likes to have affirmation of his choices! I helped pic the cloth and cut, but ultimately the final decision was his.

PS He is a very prissy man Wink. So shopping with him for the tux took HOURS. But he will look very handsome!

oh my goodness, suit shopping was awful for us. we went on july 4th, when it was steamingly hot in nyc and all we wanted to do was be at a bbq with our friends in dc (we had just moved). we went to 5 different stores, walking between all of them, and were so hot and stressed out, and hubby was self-conscious about his weight and not sure how much he wanted to spend….anyway, it was awful! but he ended up with a suit he loved, and we got a discount on it from a coupon we’d gotten from our registry (we forgot we had it at first, otherwise we would have gone straight there!)

that’s kind of a tangent, whoops. hubby did want me to help with the suit though. he wanted to go with his dad, but he had put it off too long and really needed to just go for it.
