I feel you. I loved my dress when I tried the sample, but I hated the photos my mum took. I loved my actual dress when it came in, but I hated the photos my mum took…

So when I went for my first fitting, and looked in the mirror, and remembered why I loved my dress, I decided NOT to take any more photos. The camera can and does lie, and the harsh lighting in a shop, combined with your hair and make-up not being done how they will be on the day, can really change things.

Personally I found that, when I took photos, I just started finding fault and second-guessing myself. I say ditch the photos – if you’re really unsure, go try the sample on again.

You have got to remember that a sample doesn’t fit like a glove the way your dress will, that the lighting in a salon isn’t doing you many favors, and that your mom’s camera is not going to capture you the same way a pro photographer’s camera will.

I didn’t hate my dress once I looked at the pictures, but I did question it. A big part of that is that the photos are crappy cell phone pics and I can’t see the detail on my dress that I loved so much, plus the dress was 4 sizes too big so it’s majorly clamped in the back.

I just remind myself that everyone who was with me agreed with me that it was “my” dress, and that I felt amazing when I was wearing it. I didn’t make an emotional decision in the moment, so I’m doing my best to not let my emotions mess with that decision now…hopefully when I pick it up in 3 months I’ll fall in love all over again!

My sample and my dress were the same thing.  And I still voted that I hated the pictures but loved the dress!

Pictures can be so unflattering, or at a bad angle, bad lighting, etc. They are definitely useful for remembering a dress but can also be evil if they make it look bad…

I’d suggest going back to the salon to put the sample on again and remind yourself why you love it.

My dress isn’t in yet, but I looked at the pics of it on me and wasn’t totally sold…I’m nervous about how it will look when it does come in. But I still feel like it’s *my* dress, and I’m sure once it’s altered properly too I will be totally sold. So I can’t really vote yet, there’s no option for that, lol.

Stop looking!! Seriously, the only time I had dress regret was when I saw the cell phone pictures of me in the sample. It was wrinkly, it fit me wrong, and looked boring because the camera barely caught the detailing on my belt. Even my Maid/Matron of Honor did a “meh” when I sent her the picture.

When I got it in though? Ahhh-mazing. I took my Maid/Matron of Honor with me to see it and she even cried when I put it on and apologized for doubting me. I will never question my dress again and I’m sure you won’t either. ๐Ÿ™‚

I said I hated my dress when I saw pics of me in the sample.  I was so sure I made a mistake.  It didn’t help that I went out to a bridal salon by myself afterwards and tried on a dress that I made me start rethinking my choice.  But, I didn’t have the money to change anything so I had to deal.  In the end, I fell back in love with my original dress and it was perfect for my wedding.  On our 1st anniversary, we watched our video and my dh just shook his head and was like “my wife is soo beautiful,” as he watched me walk down the aisle again ๐Ÿ™‚

1 final thing. I went back the other day and looked at some pics I still have of other dresses I tried on and was considering.  Omgoodness….all that went through my head when I saw the pics was “what in the world was I thinking!?”  The dresses looked horrific.  My dress was such an obvious choice.  My point…go with your 1st instinct.  It’s probably the right choice.

I didn’t get to take pictures of me in the sample (store policy) but I loved the pictures of me when I first tried on my actual dress. Don’t stress too much about your sample dress pictures. The lighting is normally awful and there are mirrors everywhere which throws things off. You picked your dress for a reason so don’t doubt yourself! :]

The same thing happened to me! I ended up going back and trying it on again a few weeks later. When I had it on, I had that great feeling again about my dress! Its important to remember how you feel in your dress when you have it on ๐Ÿ™‚ sometimes pictures dont do justice for what the dress looks like in person.

I was sure I wanted a certain dress, but I kept looking at the pictures of me (and other people) in the dress and decided that since the pictures didn’t look as great as the dress did in person, I needed to wear a different dress.  I hate that I look awful in most pictures.  I know that my friends will take pictures with their cell phones/digital cameras, and I wanted my dress to look good in those photos as well as in the professional ones…so I chose a different dress.

Um YES! I had an emotional rollercoaster for a week and a 1/2 until I could exchange my gown (the salon was amazing with this) and purchase one I was more comfortable with.

It was so not me once I saw pics of me in it the following day, I was mordified and cried hysterically for 2 hours straight looking at pictures my Future Sister-In-Law sent me.
