We’re having our reception in a barn in 25 days. Our ceremony is in a 1 room schoolhouse. Our theme is very rustic- candles in mason jars, burlap table runners, bbq for dinner!

@IHeartArtichoke:  This is our theme but didn’t even think to look at BBQ as an option for dinner. Can you share your menu?

@CatyLady: I was wondering where this barn was located at. I’ve been looking for a barn type setting in Springfield, IL but just can’t find anything in the area at all… not even in central illinois.

I went to a barn reception this past summer. Although I had a great time, I have a couple of receommendations, for your guests’ comfort. The only bathrooms were about 50 yards down a steep hill. Not fun when you have a 89 year old mother, with a knee brace, and a husband who uses a cane. We left early so we didn’t have to make that treck again. Also, even though the barn had windows, they didn’t open them. With the” warm air rises rule”, it might have been comfortable with them open. They didn’t have floor fans or ceiling fans, either. It was well over 90 degrees in there, when we ate our supper, so most of us went outside, ASAP, and didn’t stick around inside the barn to sociallize.
