- Wedding: February 2015 - Mount Hermon
I’m debating getting one. We’re not going away for our honeymoon imediately, but we will be gone for a couple days on a mini-moon. And I’m not sure that Fiance can figure out how to get the dress off, let alone the shapewear. I plan on selling my dress, so it needs to be well taken care of. And it won’t be for those few days. But it’s only a few days! I can’t decide.
I could just put my rehersal dinner dress back on before we make our getaway, but I’m afraid that would look odd in pictures.
What did you bees do? Say screw it and deal with the gown when you came back?

I think it’s a cute idea if you have a planned getaway. I am hopefully getting a pretty casual dress anyway, so I won’t have to worry about the Fiance dealing with a bustle but for that reason alone, I really think it’s a good way to de-stress. Could you get a really cute sundress or something that’s not extremely formal but comfy and easy to deal with? You’d still look lovely, of course, but you could finally breathe after being in shapewear all day. That way, your MoH or mom could help you change and you’d have less to worry about?

AllyCRN: I think it’s a cute idea. I think you should get something that you like, flatters you, and you will wear again. I don’t think it matters whether it’s your rehearsal dinner outfit. Your mom and Maid/Matron of Honor could help you change, and you could use this as an opportunity to change into underwear/lingerie that will be easier to deal with than shapewear.
I know my SO dislikes dealing with shapewear and complicated underwear. If your man is like that, he might appreciate it.

AllyCRN: I bought a cute getaway dress- that way I won’t have to worry about my wedding dress getting messed up, and I’ll have a dress to rewear that will have some beautiful memories attached to it. Besides, it’s an excuse to buy another dress, right? 😉

I didn’t have a getaway dress and it wasn’t too much of a hassle. But if you love the idea of having a getaway dress, I say go for it!
