Yes, scrap the menu. Guests will appreciate something more sentimental. : (7 votes)

I have never actually been to a wedding where there was a menu, and there was also no chaos. I’m a sap for sentiment!

My venue provided menus, since they also catered the food.  But I do find that a menu is a good touch, no matter how “extra” it is!  But definitely not necessary!

Its nice to have a menu but its not big deal if you dont have it unless you are serving really fancy food that the guests wont recognise just from looking at it. We had a buffet so there were labels for all the food since I have some vegan and vegetarian guests.

We are def having menus. We have a couple courses  prior to the main dish that our guests don’t really have a choice on. I would like them to know what they are eating in case of allergies or things like that. We only have meat preference on our rsvp cards also so they don’t actually know what their main dish will be until they see the menu.

    Why can’t you do both?

I put a menu in with our RSVP card so the guests could pick a meal (and not call me and ask what is served with the salmon) but I really like the thank you card!

I would do a larger sign that had the menu on it and then tuck the thank you in the napkin.

We had a Thank You section in our program that included wording like this to our family and friends (with separate thanks to our parents and our wedding party).  And then we put individual menus tucked into the napkins.

You could do the individual thank you note at each place setting and have the menu in a frame at each table.  Or you could do an individual menu at each place setting and do a larger Thank You sign on a favor table or something.  Or you could combine the Thank You with your Menu. Plenty of options 🙂

I don’t think menus are “must haves” but I think guests do appreciate knowing what they will be served, so finding a way to do both would be nice.
