Platinum, solitaire, six prongs with claw prongs, OEC, NO HALO!, and above 2.5 carats. I got exactly that but above my carat requirement.

I had a specific ring I wanted and told him I couldn’t imagine anything else.  He had the ring custom made to be identical to the ring I found online.  Before I found THE ring, my requirements were white gold and floral themed.

I wanted a white metal, low set, natural conflict free diamond ring. And I wanted to be able to put a straight wedding band with it without a gap.

He asked me to be much more specific, so then I looked and decided round brilliant in a cushion halo, vintage style, center stone around 0.5 carats (I liked the scale of that size on my finger).

Then he asked me to be even MORE specific, so I picked a specific ring and he bought it. Lol Love the ring, love the man. 🙂

@Little_Hedgy:  I specified 2 things, nothing over 1/2 carat and nothing over $1,200….its a ring and i dont want to be going broke over no matter how attached i am to it…..other then that i didnt really care….just nothing like overwhelming on me….i also asked for a thinner band…..because well i have short chunky fingers and thick bands made me look like i had oompa-loompa fingers….not a good look….

All I asked for was not a diamond. I really didn’t want one, although we did look into conflict-free diamonds from Brilliant Earth. However, I never felt drawn to diamonds in the way that I do to colored gemstones.

The only requests that I had was that it needed to be made with recylcled metal and CONFLICT FREE diamonds.  Just the thought of someone having to die over a diamond makes me sick.  I told him that I didn’t even need diamonds, but he was great!  I got conflict free and recycled metal.Smile

@Little_Hedgy:  I didn’t really think about what I wanted until I had to get a new ring (my first antique ring fell apart. It was so sad). DH really let me take the reins when we started looking for one. I wouldn’t say that I had requirements, ( because if I found something that I loved, I didn’t care what it was) more just styles I loved! So to finally answer the question, lol, I did not  want a  halo (although, we looked at some gorgeous ones), but I felt the ring would not look complete without milgrain! Also, I really really really wanted an oval  for my center stone! We ended up with the most beautiful ring, and I’m so in love!

When I upgraded, I knew I wouldn’t settle on the height of the setting.  It needed to be high enough to allow me to see the whole diamond. :). Other than that, I knew I wanted princess cut, and white gold.  I had yellow gold before the upgrade. Oh, and no side stones.

I wanted a moissanite halo in white gold with a cushion center, but as of now it looks like we might have to slice our budget so I’m stalking DiamondBistro for deals!

I wanted conflict free, no halo, and color grade I or higher.  Oh yes, and a very secure mounting!!

I couldn’t picture something that was crazy expensive or something that looked…I guess more along the traditional side? To be honest, before I started dating my FH I never even thought I’d consider marriage but at some point I told him that the specific ring I WOULD like would have to come from a particular Hawaiian jewelry store, and that was all that I said. He looked at the store’s website and picked out the exact one that I fell in love with over 5 years ago, and there are over a hundred rings there 🙂

This is my baby! 🙂

  • Rose gold
  • Wuper thin shank
  • Bulky, claw-like prongs – I love the way it contrasts against the delicate shank
