Thank you everyone!! Very true, I did look over my florist’s contract. Part of our 5k was $200 per hour for setting up the reception hall. Since she was 1.5 hours late, I should be getting $250 back since that was in her contract. Also in her contract was the phrase “We are not responsible for being late if it is caused by another vendor” which it was not. AND LASTLY, I think she honestly completely forgot that I wanted a flower crown, just based on what she brought to me. A thick green vine..literally an inch wide with a few flowers. I’m not sure what she charged me for the flower crown but that should’ve been refunded to me… I’m going to email her & ask her what exactly she meant by free flowers. One free bouquet…? Or more than that? UGH I hate the vendor review process haha.

I feel like I’ve ranted on here about this before, but my first choice caterer was the flakiest person on the planet. We tried multiple times to set up a ‘chat’, she got the date mixed up, called late, etc. Then she said she’d get me a quote in 2 weeks – after probably 8 follow up emails and pushing the date back, she let me know her car was broken into and her book wtih all of our chat info was gone, and she needed to schedule another chat. I told her that was fine, but I needed a quote by mid next week. I gave her the times I was available to chat, but also told her that pretty much any time I would make time. She didnt call. THe date I gave her came and went, so I went with 2nd choice caterers. She called me the day after and wanted to chat, and I told her no, I already picked someone else. It was SO frustrating, but if that’s how disorganized they are just TRYING to get money, I don’t want to risk it on my wedding day when they’re already paid.
Funny enough, I recently got another email from her replying to an old email of mine (where I had said we were super interested in them, please call me, etc) and asked when was a good time to call. I didn’t bother replying, but they apparently didnt’ remember that I already turned them down? Lol.

scissorgirl : I had a similar experience with a caterer. It took us ages to get a phone call set up, and then after our chat I asked for a quote. He wrote back two months later with a menu and NO QUOTE. Ugh. I had obviously already gotten someone else, but come on. If they can’t even try to get my business in the first place when I have made all of the effort, how am I supposed to have faith in the fact that they will show up on my wedding day?

acw2016 : We also had a really terrible situation with our caterer. A quick recap:
- He handled all our rentals. Told us the rental fees would be approx $3600 for tables, chairs, linens, heaters, etc. as well as all the stuff to build out the kitchen. 9 days before the wedding (our guest cout went down not up) he tells us it will be $8,000. I’m sorry what? My rental fee doubled? For the exact same list of stuff? And you have no explaination as to why? He really thought I would just pay it. I didn’t!! With 9 days left, I hiried a different rental company (caterer was so mad at me! I’m sure I fucked up his profit margin). So I arranged all the rentals, and dumped a lot more responsibliity on my poor Day Of Coordinator (who was amazing!), and told the caterer he would have nothing to do with the design, or the set up, or the break down of the wedding.
- I repeatedly told him our only diet restriction was NO shell fish. We have 2 different people who have severe allergic reactions – one is lethal. What does he do? He served crab stuffed mushrooms. We stopped it before the 2 people ate it, but it could have been a medical disaster.
- He also undercooked the chiken. My guests were polite about it, and ate the fish instead. Seriously? Raw chiken can ALSO send people to the hospital.
I waited 2 full months before I left a negative review, becasue I needed to calm down and I didn’t want to sound like a bride-zilla. I wanted to be concise. When I went to his page to leave the reiveiw – he had photos up of MY wedding decor!! You know, the rentals he totally botched!! WTF??? So yeah, I left about the most scathing review possible. I don’t want other brides to hire him.
But I also left glowing reviews of all my other vendors! Especially my Day Of Coordinaor, and the rental company who saved my wedding with only 9 days notice.

We paid a videographer $800 out of $1200. Theyre were to be 2 photographers, a videographer and we were to receive a small camera to video parts of our honeymoon. This was to be made i to a weddimg DVD and we would get a disc of all edited photos with rights to print.
AFTER we paid I found out this place was a scam and we lost our money. We ended up booking a different videographer and photographer. We are fortunate we found out. Some weddings went on wothout a videographer or photographer as the company just no showed or “lost the footage” of the weddings they did shoot.

acw2016 : I would not ask for anything free, I would only get $ back.
When you request that the vendors services that you contractually said they would give you arent met, you have a leg to stand on. When you start asking for freebies to make it better it becomes a game that no one wants to play.
