anonymousgown :  I am going to chime in here and just let you know that I love the dress on you. I think it is very flattering and I love the dramatic back. Even if they aren’t able to turn this into a ballgown for you, I think the dramatic skirt in back give this dress the wow factor that a ballgown gives. Hope that helps, good luck!

anonymousgown :  I have no advice. HOWEVER, I am in a very similar situation. First day trying on dresses, felt pressured. Someone else put down a big chunk of money down on the dress…. I am trying to convince myself to love it, or suck it up and deal with it.

    So, you aren’t alone!

So many people get dress regret. I think you should work on loving the dress you have. I agree with yupmarried that because it was bought by your father it’s more difficult to change your mind now. You’d be wasting his money and getting rid of the sentiment too. You need to stick with this one imo. And after all, there’s nothing wrong with it! It looks awesome!

You could look into getting an overskirt to turn it into a ballgown. It would be quite fun to have a ballgown for the ceremony and then take it off the reveal the mermaid for the reception. I imagine you’d have to have a fairly enormous overskirt to cover the skirt it’s already got, but maybe you’re ok with that.
