Fiance knew it was important to me that his proposal was private because I knew it would be difficult for me to genuinely react if I knew others were watching. Luckily, my Fiance and his friends do photography as a hobby/side job so he had his friends hiding behind tress in the dark and taking photos for us. I had no idea they were there! Fiance had even set up his camera to shoot video. Unfortunately, he was too nervous and forgot to properly set up the audio so some of the proposal is very soft.
But I’m insanely happy that we have photos and a video. They came out amazing and I always catch myself looking at them. I don’t think I would have hired anyone professional to take pictures though.. I think having a stranger or a friend do it in hiding is just fine!
This first picture was a screenshot from the video Fiance took. The others are some of my faves from his friends.. You can see our other friend peeking out from behind the tree.. HA!

He didn’t plan to have pictures taken. He proposed at a crowded restaurant during lunch. Luckily, a diner at the next table over whipped out a cell phone and took a couple of pictures, then was kind enough to email them to us.

My Fiance proposed as the ball dropped on New Year’s Eve with a group of my closest friends from childhood. He didn’t give any of them the heads up he was going to do it, so no one got photos but my friend’s gf caught on halfway through (when my ugly cry really reached full effect haha) and she recorded the end on her phone. I am so happy to even have a little bit on tape!

We have pictures, and we have video which is only up to it, and right after. The person recording it got a phone call at the exact time. Still priceless.

Mine proposed center stage of the LOVE theatre, a cirque dul Soleil show in Las Vegas. It was after the show and only some friends were around but no one thought to bring a cellphone to take a picture. Argh! The friend who set it up did find an older oicture from Facebook and super imposed it on a piece of the LOVE floor. It’s not our engagement picture but at least we have a momento.

He had a friend who is a professional photographer take pictures. She asked me to hang out under the guise that she wanted to build up her portfolio. I don’t think I would have been as comfotable if it was a stranger, but she is one of my close friends.
*Sorry if the pictures are huge, I can’t seem to resize them right now.

He did it while on vacation in Mexico with another couple that we are close with, and had our friend pretend he was taking pictures of us at the top of a mayan pyramid. I would have been upset to not have any pictures. Video I could deal without, would have been cool but I would have been embarrassed and I think he would have been as well.

My fiance’s dad is a photographer and got pictures! We got engaged on my favorite holiday, the 4th of July!

I just have the pictures that my very shaky pregnant, crying Future Sister-In-Law took because Fiance told her about 2 minutes beforehand. So they aren’t too clear.

DH had a friend of ours who does photography on the side hide and take pictures for us. After the moment she went ahead and took our engagement pictures since DH knew I wanted them but hates having his picture taken.

Yes, someone videoed it and showed it at our wedding (the guy who did it is an amateur filmographer, so the whole “story” was edited when we saw it). Here’s a screenshot of when my Fiance proposed on my balcony. I love that these moments were captured (I had no idea). Our friend even got audio from up there, so at our wedding, I was finally able to hear what my fiance/husband had said when he proposed. I was so surprised I had completely forgotten what he’d said in the moment, and so I’m really happy to have the video to remember it!

I’m incredibly glad he didn’t get any pictures of it! Then again, I was semi-concious in a hospital gown with a line into my neck. I was also juandiced as hell and hadn’t showered in several days. I might feel differently if it had been a more traditional proposal, but I am very okay with not having that moment of my life preserved forever XD
