We chose ours based on it being the only location to fit our criteria in a radius that my family could get to.  I guess that might count as a “this is it” moment?  I mean, if there’s nothing else in the area to compare it to…

It did not hurt in the least that the place is beautiful.

We had lunch at our venue and i was grinning like an idiot the whole time picturing how the day would go, the food was amazing, the staff are awesome, the decor is interesting, everything aligned so we booked. We could have kept looking and probably found somewhere that was even better but we didn’t want to drag it out anymore and wanted to stop looking. (I may have since found a venue that gave me serious venue regret but too late now!)

Living in Los Angeles there are so many options for wedding venues. My fiance and I kept contemplating a city or beach themed wedding, but we eventually opted for the city. We liked the idea of having the wedding right before sunset. We ended up choosing a private loft and penthouse, because after I walked in I just KNEW it was the one. It has an option for an outdoor ceremony with skyscraper views.

All of the above. The location was gorgeous. Both my mother and I, from the moment we drove up to the propety, fell in love. The coordinator is also AMAZING. She really sealed the deal. I knew the wedding plans would be taken care of with her. And price wise, even though it was a bit more than I wanted, it was really a great value for everything I was getting.

But there was definitely a “moment” when my mother and I just looked at each other and knew we had to book this place.

Definately a moment for me! We even moved our wedding date back 7 months for it! It’s incredible, and is eating away at most of our budget, but I think it’ll be worth it! It’s super convenient and has the most gorgeous view of the Detroit skyline from Windsor (Ontario). The ballroom I chose is basically a big blank slate with floor to ceiling windows along 1 whole wall. I’m so excited!

I didn’t have a moment. We booked our venue without seeing it. I don’t recommend it but we had to since we planned our wedding from abroad. Anyhow, I liked the pictures, they had an all-inclusive package and the price was right.

Yes. My Fiance said I was glowing. He said the same thing when we picked out my ring. Basically every time I find “the one” I start to glow! He says he can always tell by my reaction if I love it or not.  Even places I really liked he said only one gave me that glow.

    I DID!!!

I was actually not even engaged at the time. I was going to a little restaurant at the bottom of this hotel for my younger sisters birthday, and I walked in and immediately had goosebumps. Beautiful, royal-esque stairs, beautiful art and decor…I turned to my parents and said “I’m having my reception here”. I was 20/21 at the time. lol

The week after i got engaged (23yo) i said…”we are going to ____ to see what our reception looks like” .. i was lucky he fell in love with it too (=

Nope. My mom works for the park and it was free. We had to choose it because the state decided to do last minute work through our venue (Also a park) and they wouldn’t be done til August.

ETA: I’m not a “moment” kind of girl. I hardly ever react “explosively”, whether for good or bad.

We did, but it did have something to do with being practical.  We knew we had to find a place where we could choose our own caterer & bring our own wine.  We found another place we really liked originally.  It had everything we wanted and the people were great, but there were just a couple of challenges, like a windy road & uneven ground with a big pool, right in the middle.  We were still pretty sure that was it, but decided to look at one more place just to be sure.  We didn’t want to like it, but it was so gorgeous!  It had everything the other one had, plus a perfectly flat open lawn & no windy road!  We were both quiet and keeping it in, waiting for the other person to say something when we finally both admitted that we loved it and HAD to choose it.  Just over two more weeks, I can’t wait!!

@MsGinkgo:  None of the poll answers fit me. We chose ours because the venue has significance for us.

@MsGinkgo:  Totally “THIS IS IT!” moment! I loved the church SO MUCH that I switched our budget around to afford it, even if it was very expensive! In fact, I loved it so much, we became members of the church!

I have to say… Yep!  Actually my parents saw it first, it was their favourite out of the TEN they visited and the only one of those FH and I saw ourselves.  My jaw just dropped – and that was only the main venue area.  When we went up to the roof where we’ll have the ceremony I literally started shaking! Lol.  I was everything I was hoping for and more and FH and I couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces.
Mum and dad (who are paying) had crunched numbers based on the minimum spend and we thought it was going to be OK.  What they didn’t tell us, until we were well and truly hooked on it, was that the minimum send was $22,000! Cue massive jaw dropping head shaking “what do we do now” moment – exacerbated by the fact we had to make a quick decision as there was a deal that included the roof for the ceremony for free (normally an extra $2000) if we booked on their open day which was only a week later.P
I felt terrible because at that point we’d basically ruled everything else out and fallen so strongly in love with it… But that financial commitment was bonkers.  Let me just say I am a VERY spoiled little bee, because eventually mum and dad decided to go ahead regardless.  Honestly, the venue is probably the one thing I haven’t been second guessing the whole time.
It also helps that the staff are fabulous and we get our own event planner.
I guess if you’re struggling a pros/cons list would be helpful.  Decide what you value most, and what you’re more flexible about and work down the list of options.  Is there some sort of decoration that would turn one into your dream location?

@MsGinkgo:  Yep. My fiance and I literally teared up. We could actually see ourselves getting married there. When I took my mom and sister there later, they had the same feeling about it. It was just too perfect. I feel SO happy every time we’re there. I can’t wait to go back for our tasting event in October!
