I did not hire one, because it was going to be around 2-3k and I did a 40 person wedding for only about 10-12 total.
I wish to hell I had because people drove me UP THE DAMN WALL on my wedding day. It’s unreal how many people suddenly just HAVE TO ASK THE BRIDE everything. Hire one. Hire seven. But definitely hire one.

Things are very different in Ireland as your venue has a co-ordinator. They could be classed as more planners I’m not sure what the demarcation is in the States. But we met with the planner a few times before the wedding, ongoing emails and calls as required. We dropped what we needed to the venue the day before & it was all there when we arrived.
They also supply as Master of Ceremonies who was fantastic. Created an amazing atmosphere and was so helpful for any small needs.
I had a church wedding which was completely separate and had a good friend sort any on the day things for me but mostly all the vendors took care of what we’d agreed too!
I would definitely hire someone to be there on the day at least you don’t want to be answering any questions on the day!!

No because I have zero need for one. The venue sets everything up day of. I’m OCD and planner by nature so I haven’t needed help planning or executing what I want.

I got a full service planner and on the day of, there will be 2 of them. She’s been good at some stuff, but not great at other things but she was helpful with picking venue, caterer and photographer. Some of the email communication has been slow and I haven’t gotten a ton of options for other things so I’ve had to do my own research, but in general, I’m glad I have one. I am having a destination wedding, so it’s almost crucial to have one for that — we paid $3K.
