I have not yet gone on my honeymoon (since my wedding isn’t until July) but we have booked an 8-day 7-night stay in Punta Cana and I am BEYOND excited! We are going to the Now Larimar resort which is very new and has great ratings, plus it is all-inclusive! Compared to some other resorts/destinations, we got a great deal by booking through Expedia!

We vacationed in Punta Cana for DH’s 30th Birthday. We stayed at Grand Bahia Principe Ambar, which is adults only and it was absolutely amazing. The best part of Punta Cana is getting up early to see the sun rise. We booked through Apple and they were really helpful with transportation and day trips. We would love to go back.

We’ve just started looking at honeymoon resorts since our date is a ways away, but I just started looking into punta cana. Absolutely beatiful beaches! I’ve kinda got my eye on Majectic Elegance. It’s family friendly however, there is an adults only section with rooms and private pools so that’s nice. (I’m an elementary teacher and as much as I love kids, we don’t want to share them on the honeymoon! haha)

@hosannac:  I stayed at the same resort but the Esmeralda in 2010 and you are right, it’s gorgeous! that was the best resort I’ve stayed at. Im going to Majestic Elegance in May, hoping that’s just as nice.

I am not going to the DR for my honeymoon but we vacationed in La Romana a few years back with some other couples.  I LOVED it.  Seriously, my favorite vacation to date.  La Romana is a little more laid back than Punta Cana.  Punta Cana is considered more of the “party” city where La Romana is more calm.  There was still a ton to do though on the resort.  We also did some off-resort excursions like swimming with sharks and stingrays =)  It was so much fun.

I should add though that I know plenty of people who have been to Punta Cana and loved it, too!  I think that wherever you choose you will have an amazing time!

I’m thinking it’s a good choice too! I just have to show the fiance and I think he’ll like it as well. Very affortable and looks nicer than some more expensive resorts. 🙂
