I have been engaged for several years, we haven’t set a date yet. When people ask about it, ai just give them a cheery answer “in the future!”

We set ours about 2-3 months in. We got engaged the first weekend in June (09) and set the date in August/Sept. We both agreed on Fall and I knew I wanted to get married as close to Halloween as possible. So, we landed on October 30th, 2010.

We got engaged about a week and half before Christmas, and picked a date within two weeks. Fiance travels for work, A LOT, and so if we were going to make a decision while he was home we needed to do it quickly. Also, we knew we wanted a fall wedding, but after being together 12 years already I was not waiting until 2013. We originally wanted October, but couldn’t get a date that our venue and officiant had open. Fall is prime wedding season around here, so as soon as we found a date that worked we snatched it up.

We got engaged in early Sept and set a date by the end of October, when we finalized on the venue. We are now less than six months away and I am happy the engagement is not longer.

We picked ours pretty much 20 mins after. We live in Halifax but were in Victoria visiting when he proposed. We knew we wanted to get married in Victoria and had to do a lot of planning our remaining time there like choosing a wedding and me picking out a dress.

Originally we wanted our anniversary date (July 8th) for our wedding date but it was a Sunday and the venue we fell in love with was booked that day as well. We settled on July 28th and we couldn’t be happier.

We’ve only been engaged for a month, but we have (kind of tentatively) decided on 10-12-14. There are a few reasons:

1) It’s a long weekend (Columbus Day) and convenient for our jobs (Ph.D candidates)

2) We both are a little OCD and love even numbers (silly, but if it works…)

3) Since it’s a long weekend in October in Maine, the date will fill up quickly, so 2 years is pretty necessary to book a venue

Fiance and I got engaged three weeks after we started dating during our senior year of undergrad. However, we knew we wanted to get through undergrad and a chunk of grad school before we made any concrete plans, so it’s taken us three years to set a date. We will (hopefully) be married on our 4th dating anniversary, this December.

We knew that we wanted to get married in the fall, but we hadn’t discussed particulars, since we weren’t engaged yet.

But, I basically picked the date when I was calling family to let them know AJ had proposed (like, an right after he proposed) and my aunt said, so when are you getting married? I replied, October 2013. My Fiance just looked at me, and when I got off the phone, we pulled up a calendar, looked at Saturdays in October, and picked the 5th as our dream date. And a week later when we booked the venue, that’s the date we got!

We got engaged on Christmas Day. A week later, we visited reception venues and booked it after that weekend. We had to wait on the church for availability, but basically a week and a half after getting engaged. We had a 10 month engagement total.

We got engaged in early November of 2011 and will sign our venue contract on March 28, 2012 (a little over 4 months). We didn’t want to plan anything immediately and just wanted to enjoy!! Our wedding will be June 24, 2013 (engagement of 1 year and 7 months). We both were happy to wait a little while before setting the date, and then we were both happy to look at a few venues and pick what we liked. No one forced the other, and when people ask I just said, “well definitely not this summer, but we’ll let you know!”

It took us a couple months to set a date. We were flipflopping between 2012 and 2013 before settling on 2012

My 9yo son helped my fiance pick out my e-ring in early January and he was there for the proposal January 27, 2012  immediately after the hugging and kissing he wanted to know when it wuld happen.  The engagement was a surprise to me but he got out the calendar out and they picked June 9, 2012 within minutes. Made sure it would work with my little nephew’s chemo schedule and then we started looking for a venue that would work that date!

We set a date 6 months after being engaged, but it was dependent on location and our location moved several times.

Prior to the actual proposal, we had already discussed when we’d like to get married.  Short engagement vs. long engagement.  We figured a year long engagement was just fine.

Now we’re back to having no date because I cancelled the Jackson Hole wedding and we’re eloping to Canada probably.  I’m guessing August now?  I really liked being able to say a real date!

Being the logical person that I am, when someone would ask me when is the date so soon after engagement, I would ask them, “How would that even be possible?  I mean unless we spent all weekend the day after we got engaged scoping out venues, or had our venue preselected before the actual proposal – how could one possibly konw their wedding day already?”  Not to be snarky but I wanted to break it down for them!
