I had hoped that I would suit a 50s style dress, and had been lusting after them online, and wondered if I could get away with buying a rally nice dress and wear it to my wedding, rather than a wedding dress.
I tried on a few dresses, including a 50s sort of dress, and realised that I really wanted to feel like a bride, corsets and all!! The 50s one I tried on (and I did love it) was only the 2nd dress I tried on I felt I had to keep looking. I tried on what felt like LOADS of dresses (30 or so) and liked a few of them, some really quite a lot, but with nearly all the long ones I tried on I felt like I was dressing up like a bride, rather than being a bridal version of me. I ended up going back to the 2nd dress I tried on:

I had no idea what I wanted in a dress other then that I *KNEW* I didn’t want strapless….. lol I was however open to trying pretty much anything on and in the end, I got a wonderful strapless dress that I absolutely loved!

I knew I wanted something chiffon and flowey with a bohemian or grecian goddess feel to it, all the dress photos I was drawn to were empire waist as well:
