I knew when he was going to propose, only because he hinted at it around my birthday, but the ring wasn’t ready in time, so he went to pick it up when it was and immediately came to my office for “lunch.”  I had a feeling I’d be engaged when I came back from my lunch break haha.

I am in the same boat as you.  I found the withdrawl coming out of his bank statement so I know he has the ring.  Just a waiting game now….

I want the ring RIGHT NOW also but I know it will be more special & meaningful if he plans a suprise.

I had NO clue.  We had talked about marriage a few times, but usually we were joking around about it.  It was a HUGE surprise!  I think if I had any clue about it, it would have driven me crazy.  I’m not very patient.

I didn’t know he’d bought a ring and he’d told me he wouldn’t propose until 2009 (this is late 2008). Then one day in the car I found a valuation certificate! It was all folded up and I didn’t open it, I just put it back under the seat and tried not to think about it ๐Ÿ™‚ He took me away for my birthday a week or two later and I wondered if this would be “it”, but tried not to get my hopes up (see previous point re year). He insisted on taking a super expensive bottle of champagne that had been sitting in our fridge for over a year, waiting for a “special occasion” – another clue I tried to ignore. I was determined to enjoy my birthday no matter what. On the day he suggested going for a hike up a mountain (the tallest mountain in Australia, but that’s not very tall!) and again I took that to be a clue, especially when I thought maybe he was walking super fast to try and overtake everyone else and be the only ones at the top. When we got there I hugged the big concrete block with the plaque on it and when I turned around he was down on one knee with the ring. Even though I’d been noticing the clues and thinking maybe this was it, it was still a massive surprise after all our talk of weddings and marriage, and still a magical moment!! A few minutes later a big family group arrived at the top and I showed them all the ring and all the ladies shrieked and gave us lots of hugs. I know it’s hard to relax and trust he will do it when the time is right, but try your best – it will be worth it!

Just like a surprise birthday party, don’t spoil it. They have their time and plans.. and no, I didn’t know at all.

I had no clue that he would propose! For the last two years, he never seemed interested in it until “later” but for the week leading up to it (it happened on Christmas Day 2009), I kept having a weird gut feeling that something big was going to happen and change my life (partly because I barely had any gifts under the tree and he is known for spoiling me!). Ironically, on Christmas Eve I dreamed that he would propose and the next morning he did!

Awh! I hope he does it soon!!

I had no idea either!  We were going on vacation to Disney World and a lot of people were asking me if I thought we’d get engaged there.  I would say no way!!  We had picked out the ring together and he was going to have it made. We had talked about it and he had given me a timeline of between Feb 2010 and May 2010..we went to Disney in November!  It was a terrific surprise!

I knew he was going to propose because he wanted to do it after he graduated from college and found a good job. All of that happened, plus he said he would do it “by” Christmas. On Christmas morning I was so upset. My daddy told me not to break up with him and to give him time. Well he proposed after he ate Christmas dinner. lol

I had a feeling, but he told me it wouldnt be for another year or so because he was doing alternative teaching certification and they were taking a lot of $$$ out of his paycheck, So i believed him.

But when we were dancing…I had a feeling he was gonna do it!

I had NO IDEA.  We’d talked about “one day when we’re married” a few times but nothing serious.  Never looked at rings.  He was taking me on a surprise trip for my birthday and a patient of mine said “maybe he’ll propose” and I said “noooo, we haven’t even talked about it”  A day later he proposed on the beach in Carmel.  I was floored.  And I think that made it so much more special.

I had no clue.  We sort of looked at rings once online, but I didn’t think it would happen for several more months.  And I was wrong.

i had a gut feeling that i tried to ignore because i didn’t want to get my hopes up.  he took me to look at christmas lights and as we were looking at them he seemed to be scouting the area.  he finally found a bench and when he suggested we should sit down i pretty much knew he was going to propose.  it was so exciting though!  esp since we had discussed getting engaged and i figured he was going to do it this summer not last winter!  ๐Ÿ™‚ i love him so much.
