We had talked a little about rings, and I had sent him a couple of “hints,” but jokingly. I was really surprised when he proposed in April, and I was more surprised that he had actually asked both my parents and my two siblings for permission over Christmas, and bought the ring in February. We always joke because he is the WORST about keeping secrets, and he actually kept the secret for 4 months! ๐Ÿ™‚

My engagement story is kinda funny! I knew he had a ring and I knew for sure what day he was going to purpose (February 10th) and where it was going to happen. So I was excited and actually planned what I was going to wear, how my hair was going to look, etc. (just so I could look nice for “the moment”. February 8th comes and  I was at his house watching a movie. All of a sudden he gets up and says he had to get something. I say “okay” not thing much. Then he comes back, kneels infront of me with a box in his hands and says “Kira, Will you marry me?”. I was COMPLETELY SHOCKED! I had no clue he would purpose that night and I think it couldn’t have happened any other way. So in a way I “knew” but ended up being surprised anyway. =)

I know it’s coming. We picked out the ring together about four months ago. He is going to surprise me with the when and the where.  He will only tell me that it will be sometime in 2010.

FH and I went to the store together and picked out the ring. Then he asked me to marry him in the car when we got outside ๐Ÿ™‚

Then we drove straight to his parents house to tell them!

he was oh so convincing with his we need to be together for 18 months speech that when he planned  a secret vacation I just thought he was being a sweetie. No idea that I would come home at the end of a long weekend with bling on my hand. I thought we’d at least go ring shopping together at some point since I’d never put a ring on my hand (superstition), but he did it all on his own and it is exactly what I would have picked myself!

    I love reading everyone’s stories ๐Ÿ™‚

I said other, I proposed but really there was no proposal.  We just kind of decided together. Actually, we decided together a couple months in advance when we would officially start telling people and how.  I am not one for surprises…

I knew because I was 3 months pregnant at the time and we were engaged for 5 days……had to get on it and get married due to needing insurance. He said he was going to propose 6 months later, and technically he didn’t even have to propose, and he didn’t have a ring, but since we agreed upon getting married, technically he didn’t even have to ask. all the families did it for us.

I knew he was planning to propose soon but didn’t know how.  He was showing me something on his computer and an email popped up from his mom that said “if you need a place to hide the ring…”  so that instant he almost proposed because I found out.  But I made him wait to do what he planned and how he imagined it.  So it was a surprise when he proposed a few days later but I wasn’t completely off guard…which is probably a good thing because I think I would have fainted if I had no clue.

All I knew is that he was making up from our anniversary last year so I didnt think anything about it until our “date” starting really extravagant really quick. ie. airplanes and french laundry.

At the end I was just so overwhelmed, jet lagged (we got home from Germany 2 days before) and buzzed (Dom Pe Rose) that I really didnt think it was going to happen.

But then all the stars alligned and he asked me to marry him!  I cried.

I had a feeling he would do it sometime before New Years..but wasn’t sure.  We’d missed all kinds of important dates to us in 2009.

I think the kicker was he began acting wierd.  Moody sometimes.  Like asking me (and we’re super secure w/each other) “are you sure you want to be w/ me when we’re 80 or something” stuff.  He also got sappy right before a few weeks (found out later it was when he actually brought the ring home) and sent me flowers right after getting manly moody.

I actually went to the store to go shopping at Macy’s with a friend stopped over near the rings and I saw the most amazing ring! My friend told my then Boyfriend or Best Friend about and we went back to look at it together we actually bought it that day lol. But I totally forgot about it and we were in Disney from Christmas Day till New Years Day and at Midnight infront of the castle  near the Mickey and Walt statue he asked me to marry him we hugged and kissed and our friends we made while waiting for the fireworks since 9pm started hugging us lol they were the same age as my grandparents lol It was funny though because before the fireworks we went to eat dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern and the Characters kept doing this to me and a pic of ” our spot”

Just reflecting back on this, I’m still kind of reeling, even though it was eight months ago. I can read Fiance like a book and he had never successfully kept a surprise a total secret from me. I knew the proposal was on the way in a general sense, because we’d firmed up our decision to get married over a year and a half before he did propose, but I had NO idea that he had procured a ring, and absolutely no idea that he was going to do it when he did. So much about the proposal was sweet and perfect, but by far the best part was what an absolute surprise it was. I was and still am impressed, and I love surprises.

He was totally acting so strange the day he proposed and he kept dropping hints the entire day. He cannot keep a secret from me for the life of him! But whenever he asks, I tell him I had no idea ๐Ÿ™‚
