He did, and I never even saw it.

We picked it together, but he did the rest.

We picked it, we styled it -- no surprises here!

I went with my fiance to pick out his tux.  He basically told me to pick everything, because he doesn’t care about clothes at all.  We did make some compromises.  I really didn’t want the black and white wing tip shoes, but his face lit up when he saw them.  In the end I think he enjoyed the process more than he thought he would.

I am his stylist so it would be weird for me to not know what he was wearing. I of course dress him in his tastes, but I almost always pick his clothes. He liked picking his clothes before but I know what he likes so it’s one thing he doesn’t have to bother with and he doesn’t mind that at all.

DH gave me a general description of what he’d be wearing, but I didn’t see it until the actual wedding. He’s a good dresser!

You missed an option, I picked it and said, “this is what you’re wearing”. He said, “okay”. Otherwise he’d be in jeans and a tee.

theatrejulia :  +1. My husband picked out his suit with his brother, but he showed me because he wanted me to see it.

My husband would wear shorts and slippers to a funeral, so I had to pick it.

I knew my DH was renting a tux. We talked about colour palate, but I didn’t actually SEE his outfit until I walked down the aisle.

caseyd528 :  If you can, please try to dissuade him from wearing black and white spats, especially if it’s with a classic tuxedo. They’re not appropriate and won’t look good with the black tux

I styled it with him because I know what my dress is like and he doesn’t, so I have to make sure he looks fine with my dress! And he’d rather I style for him because he’s too lazy and have no idea what to pick except for his usual formal suit lol.

Why can’t it be a surprise – well of course it can.. I just don’t think many brides like the idea of their grooms’ wear be unknown to them! Especially if the grooms have no fashion sense and may suddenly decide to turn up in inapprpriate attire or something that doesn’t go well with everyone else. For guys they don’t mind that much, how many guys insist on picking out the perfect dress and have specific likes/dislikes: “i don’t like beading, i like lace, i don’t like sleeves, get a mermaid dress?”

I did, although I was unaware that he was wearing a G-string until we got home 😨

My Fiance owns a tux of his own, so he will be wearing that. I inquired about a rental for his Best Man since we’re using the shop where I bought my gown, and the woman asked if I wanted to pick something while I was there. I told her no, he didn’t pick my dress, so I’m not picking his attire. She seemed stunned that I did not care if I had any say at all. He’s a grown man, and he has excellent taste.

If I hadn’t had input, he would have been in jeans and a Hawaiian shirt.  He quite seriously asked me if he could wear that and seemed surprised when I said I didn’t think it was appropriate for a church wedding.  I did tell him I didn’t care if he got changed once the photos had been taken, but he didn’t.  He already owned a really nice charcoal suit and both his groomsmen had black suits so we went with that and just got them all matching shirts.
