SprinkleDonut:  Are you sure that it is not her DRESS that makes her look bigger, not the photographer? On my figure I cant have lots of layers of fabric because I do look heavier. To me it seems she was wearing an unflattering dress….

I’m about 15lbs heavier now than I was at my wedding, and I think I look smaller/better now than in my wedding pics.  It could be just that the dress had a LOT of fabric, it could be that my arms and shoulders are more toned now, I don’t know.  Either way, I’m not unhappy with the way my body looks overall, so no biggie. I also don’t really ever see a lot of change in my own body; my “fat” pics from a few years ago don’t strike me as that different from my “skinny” pics now, except in my face.  My body has always been and will always be curvy, these boobs aren’t going anywhere, and until they do, a few inches in any direction doesn’t change much unless I’m next to someone whose weight has stayed constant, which no one’s has, so whatever.

one factor that is very important no ones mentioned: posture! Standing up straight and tall with your shoulders down and back will always make you look thinner.

The other three factors being: photographer, dress, and your actual weight.

If someone has a bit of a belly and their dress is a mermaid or tight in the stomach area, they’ll look smaller in pics from the front than from the side/profile. Same thing that someone whose arms are bigger- they will look thinner w arms not visible in pics.

being in white/very light colors can also make a bride look bigger in some pics. I’m not big at all and some pics from our wedding day arent the most flattering. Pics and camera generally do add weight imo. <br />

The shapewear I had to wear added some bulk to me. I also could not loose abunch of weight because I had a button baced dress. It was a tad too big the day of. A lot of it is posture too.

I feel like I looked thinner than usual. I did loose a lot of weight the few weeks leading up to the wedding because I had the stumach flu like every weekend. But I don’t think I even lost a whole dress size. My dress still fit it was just a smidgen looser than usual.

i think it also helps when you find a dress flattering to your body type. I originally wanted a fit and flair, but quickly found out that it made me look twice the size I really am. An a-line dress made me look way thinner.
