mel2 :  im the same. I dont wear any makeup besides a light layer of eyeliner. Thats it. On nights out ill add some red lipstick (ive been told its my color), and maybeeee some mascara and concealer/foundation.

I find myself not needing makeup but for special events, itll help emphasize your face to stand out some more. Plus, everyone I know packs it on, so i dont want to look like a ghost lol

I had my trial and went heavy and thought it looked ok. After watching Meghan Markle get married and seeing her with barely any noticeable makeup I realized my wedding day was not a day to experiment with heavy eye makeup and contouring if that’s not what I do daily. I told my MUA that I wanted to go more natural and she was totally cool with it, what we ended up doing was starting light and buliding it up. One of my bridesmaids knew how important it was that I didn’t look overly done up and she was honest when it came to if I needed a little more eye liner or bronzer.

I LOVED that I can look at my wedding pictures and be happy that I look like me. I really think starting light and building it up is the way to go so you don’t all of a sudden look like a clown.

I wear NO makeup daily. I felt glamorous but still like me on my wedding day. 26734178_1780845652220074_4288812727322672946_n

An idea could be to tell your MUA that, even though this is for your wedding, you don’t want any type of “Wedding Look,” you only want a makeup-that-doesn’t-look-like-makeup Look. I like that

winewithwedding :  brought up Meghan Markle, that would be a good person to tell your MUA is your “wedding day inspiration” because her makeup was extremely natural-looking. Best of luck.

I did my own makeup and looked like a goddess at my wedding. We all do. We take more care, and we walk out looking amazing. Own it! You’re all gorgeous btw these pics are amazing.

I did my own hair and makeup, as I never like how people do my makeup, I looked just like myself with just a little more umf for the pics 🙂

I completely understand wanting to “look like yourself”! The best advice I can give you is to simply find a makeup artist who you trust and then let her use her professional judgement and experience with weddings (needing to last all day/night, photography, lighting, blemishes, etc. ) and give her your ideas without over thinking it. With hair and makeup cients often question the layering of products, but beieve it or not, they are to help make your skin and hair look and feel their best. We take dozens (if not hudreds) of classes and lessons and research to understand which products to use and why. You could always ask out of curiousity what they are using and why. I am sure your artist wouldn’t mind explaining its necessity (or discussing leaving it out)

I think I did 🙂 Well, at least I hope I did haha. I told my MUA that I just wanted to look like a fancy version of myself, mostly neutral colours etc. I was super happy with my make up. I rarely wear make up, and my husband prefers me without makeup, so he was happy too 🙂

Me on a normal day & me on my wedding day… I spend a lot of time outdoors and hiking, so generally look like a hot mess lol…

I’m not a makeup person unless I go out and even then it would just be mascara eyeliner and lipstick and maybe some eye shadow.  However, for my wedding I wanted to look glamourous and not so ordinary so I got the full bridal face.  My makeup artist specializes in the natural glamour look so it was perfect.  I looked very much like myself but a more glamorous version and I loved it.

Did your fiance see the results of your trial? I used my trial makeup for my engagement photos and while he was shocked at seeing me all done up he absolutely loved seeing that version of me and it made everything feel extra special like it wasnt just a regular photo shoot.  Same goes for wedding day, for me it wasn’t an ordinary day so I didnt want my hair, dress or makeup to look ordinary.
