I lost about 8 lbs in the 2 months before my wedding by cutting out all soda and drinking tea, eating primarily grilled chicken sandwiches almost every day (no chips and queso at restaurants, no cookies for dessert, nothing extra except fruit for snacks.) Nothing fried or sugary at all. I also exercised 3 times a week for 30-45 mins on my Wiifit.
@marinewife4: You should do what makes YOU happiest. We put so much pressure on ourselves for one stinkin’ day, it’s unbelievable. I myself plan to lose some more weight but I started losing before I was engaged and I was doing it for me and my health. That being said, I do feel some pressure to slim down more. Is it me? The wedding industry? The Bee? The dress I chose that shows every imperfection? I can’t say for certain. However, what I do want to make sure is that whatever weight I lose, I can maintain. I don’t want to slim waaaaaaaaay down and then balloon up after the wedding. I just want to be me, plain and simple. If I got married today, I’d be happy in my body and in my pictures. Knowing that takes a little pressure off.
FH says I don’t need to lose any more weight but since it’s not his body, it’s not his call. I just want a “normal” BMI. For ONCE IN MY LIFE, I just want to be normal.
@marinewife4: I was already starting to lose weight before I got engaged but since then I’ve lost about 10 pounds because I feel more motivated. I want to lose 12-20 more pounds before dress shopping. It is a permanent lifestyle thing though like I am gonna keep it up after the wedding too.
My wedding is still quite far away but I definitely plan on losing weight for my wedding. I lost weight for friends’ weddings last year and typically lose weight for my own birthday parties, so…(haha) you BET I will.
i think the issue here for me is i dont eat greasy or junk food my diet consists of sandwiches and chicken and veggies for dinner so maybe my body got used to that maybe i need to change it up!
if you are already working out a lot and feel great in your skin, there is NO NEED to struggle to lose weight. you look great and WILL NOT look bad in your photos. do whatever makes you happiest.
i’ve lost 26 lbs so far since the summer… my wedding is in 2 months and i was hoping to be down another 20 lbs but that might not happen at this point. and that’s okay. my goal is another 10 and to tone up. it’s not necessarily for the wedding but for the vacation… we are getting married in punta cana. WHOSE IDEA WAS THAT?! haha.
@marinewife4: Personally, I think you look great and don’t need to lose any weight, but if you’re still undecided, I would suggest weight training to tone up, and any weight loss would be an added bonus. I wanted to tone my arms for the wedding, so I started weight training about 6 months before the wedding and I ended up losing 10 lbs and toning my whole body. I didn’t change my diet either, although I tend to eat fairly healthy anyway. I wasn’t expecting to lose weight, but I was happy I did because I felt fantastic on my wedding day and our honeymoon right after. I intend to maintain my current bod, so this won’t be just for the wedding.
I wanted to lose weight before my wedding (not just for the wedding but it was a good reason) but it didn’t happen. Honestly I was just lazy and then it got too close to where if I lost too much weight, my dress might not have been able to be altered correctly.
I stress lost a few pounds, but nothing drastic. I don’t believe in weight loss, just positive, healthy relationships with food, activity, and self image.
I actually gained weight, but not really on purpose. With all the celebrating, festivities and excitement we went out to eat a lot, drank a lot, had a lot of fun. I looked like me and that’s good, but I do have some dredded back fat in many pictures, especially if the angle is bad. I regret that, but at the same time, I am who I am. And that’s who my husband married. 🙂
I’ve gained 30 pounds over the last two years…stopped working out after an injury, enjoyed way too much food with Fiance, etc. Entered the “Overweight” BMI category for the first time.
I am very deadline-motivated, so the wedding has given me a needed incentive for getting back on track. I am halfway to my goal with five months to go.
I am 5’11” and it takes a lot for me to lose a size, so my wedding dress probably won’t need much alteration. I am OK paying the fee if it’s a result of getting my good habits back!
I wanted to stay the same weight for my wedding, which proved to be a problem. I switched birth controls about 10 months out and I gained like 10 lbs. I was annoyed as all get out because I was doing more exercise (training for a half marathon to be exact) and eating super healthy. After the 1/2 marathon I switched back to my old birth control and within a week the 10lbs were gone. Just gone, I did nothing different, they just went away. I was super happy. About a week before the wedding I was super stressed and dropped anoth 5-6lbs, I was so worried my dress would not fit, but everything worked out just fine. I since put back on that 5 lbs (and I don’t mind at all) so my weight is back to its normal (before the switching of the pill) and that makes me happy.
