Did you make it to 40 weeks with your first baby?

I had my first at 39 weeks! At around 38 weeks I was having a ton of cramping, though nothing timetable like real contractions. I also remember vomiting one day around that time. It made me think maybe something was happening…

But then the next few days all that stopped and I felt normal outside of the usual discomfort of being full term pregnant! So I thought ok the big hoorah is still a ways away probably. Then at 38+6 I had my first real contraction while watching tv. I went to the bathroom a little later and my plug fell out, along with some bloody show (tmi, looked like brown globby booger).  Then not five min later my water broke! We headed to the hospital, they put me on pitocin cause I wasn’t contracting much on my own, and I gave birth about 9 hrs later right at 39 weeks.

Nope, I was feeling great and had no signs at all until my water broke at 38+2.

But I was a month premature and my mom was 2 months premature, so I had a hunch he’d make an early appearance!

Yep! I was 41 weeks and one day when labor started. I’ve heard going late is typical in first time moms but it’s no guarantee.

I didn’t even make it to 38 weeks with my first! I also was feeling great, working hard to tie up loose ends before baby arrived, water broke at 36 weeks. We planned for my later pregnancies to come early and they didn’t disappoint. Good luck!!

@ohdarling:  My son came around 39 weeks, looking back, I had a LOT more back pain in that week. I thought it was just from getting bigger but apparently it’s a sign of labor. I was deathly afraid of labor, I had a pretty difficult one too despite being super active while I was pregnant and I’d still do it again, you’ll be great!!!! Good luck and keep us posted on the arrival of your little one.

Just turned 34 weeks and this thread is so great to read though. I’m aware I’m almost in the window of giving birth and I have no idea when it is going to happen and am super curious too about how many woman go to 40.

I was induced at 41+1, also my first baby. The doctor had checked me at 40+5 and I wasn’t dilated at all. Wasn’t feeling anything, didn’t lose my mucus plug, water didn’t break, nothing ! I think if nature was allowed to take its course I wouldn’t have had it until almost 42 weeks or after. But I was happy to be induced I was ready to meet my boy! Good luck mama you got this!

First one made it to 38+6! very similar to my sister’s experience. If you have sisters or if your mom remembers your birth it might be a good indications if you’re gonna be late or early! Didn’t have any indications that he was gonna arrive but the day before I walked a lot so it might have precipitated things?

@ohdarling:  I went to 42 and that baby still did not want to join us in the outside world. I was induced, never dilated past 5, and we ended up with an emergency c-section. Baby was healthy, definitely full term so no mix-up on the dates, just nice & comfy in there I guess.

I was 10 days overdue for my firstborn. I had no signs of labour apart from mild period pain like cramps/contractions that started on the Saturday afternoon, and he was born on Monday. You will do great! Your body is made to do this ❤️ xx

@ohdarling:  I had my first baby at 41 weeks after a forced eviction lol. I was induced funny enough but it failed. And labor then started on its own. From start to finish, it took about 11 hours.
