My SO & I met online, but I normally tell people  some cheesy story about meeting him on the bread isle of a grocery store, while we were both going for the last bag on honey wheat bagels.

@SincerelyShe:  I know the feeling!  My SO tells everyone we met at the bar that we had our first date at.

Met my Fiance on okcupid! I actually had a good experience with that site in terms of finding a match. It’s all about weeding out the creep-os and finding genuine people who are not in it for one thing.

I “rated” my Fiance while bored one night and he “rated” me back. We both gave each other four stars, so we started talking, and then moved on to skyping (where my microphone didn’t work so I sat there listening to him and miming things with props from my bedside table), phone conversations, and about a month later, we had our first date.

“How did you two meet?” “Through a mutual friend” Well, it’s true. She knew him, and I knew her, but we talked online for a couple years before finally meeting since he lived almost 2 hours away… when I found out that she didn’t actually KNOW him. Almost 5.5 years later, here we are. πŸ™‚ Funny thing is, she didn’t want me talking to him because she thought he was an ass. But I did it anyway because I thought it was funny. Then I realized she was the one with the problem and unfortuantely we’re not friends anymore.

@SincerelyShe:  Hah, it’s funny, so many of my friends that have met online used cover stories like that and later admitted they met online…so whenever I hear stories about people meeting in grocery stores or things like that, I always secretly think they’re just embarrassed to say they met online! I think it’s sweet. πŸ™‚

We met online, but not on an online dating site.

We were actually members of a tattoo forum, started talking and instantly clicked!

Originally 300 miles apart, we moved in together after a year and are now planning our future together as man and wife 4 years later!

I don’t go on that site anymore, but I’ve kept my account open so that after the wedding, I can write a little post about how, if it weren’t for that site, I never would have met the love of my life πŸ™‚

I admit that I don’t understand why people come up with cover stories for meeting online. I have met many guys I’ve dated online. In fact, the more I talked to them online, the less bulls*** we had to deal with in our relationship.

I was a blogger, and my guy was a commenter. I posted my IM name one night so that readers who also followed my favorite football team and I could chat during a big bowl game. He didn’t know anything about the team or the game, but he took a chance anyway. We pretty much didn’t stop talking either online or on the phone for the next two weeks, and then he asked to meet halfway (we were 3 hours apart) to take me out on a date for my birthday.

We met on POF.  Neither of us were looking for anything serious.  In fact, DH was graduating school and moving 4 hours away 4 months after we met.

1.5 years later we were engaged and married at 2 years together πŸ™‚

Very few people know we met online either.

We both actually met on yahoo personals back in 08, where he was living in Florida, but he was getting ready to move back to KS.  We emailed back and forth for a week and then talked on the phone every night for a couple of more, when I had this brilliant idea to fly to Florida and drive back with him in the u-haul to Kansas……not like me at all, but I wasn’t nervous at all and from the first phone call it seemed like we had known each other forever!!   We were engaged 6 months later, married a year after engagement and will be celebrating our 3 year anniversary in Oct.  And still feel like we’ve known each other forever!  I love telling people how we met!!  A lot of people meet online nowadays that we don’t really get any “are your serious” looks, just a lot of ahhhhhhhhs:)

We met on OKCupid just over two years ago and are getting married in two months! I’ve also set up some girlfriends with profiles on there and both are now happily in relationships. It’s fun to see how technology is changing everything about our lives.

@misspeanut:  OMG! I didn’t realize it was that obvious! I guess I should have come up with a better cover. How is it that normal people meet again? Its been so long, I’m not sure I remember.  I probably should have said we met at a bar. . . smh.
