I had a phone consultation with a potential DOC today and I am pretty sure I want to book her. Fiance however, has reservations about booking her without a face to face meeting. Did you meet your DOC face to face before booking?

- Wedding: October 2012 - Adrianna Hill Grand Ballroom
I met my DOC at the venue (she works directly for the ballroom) and she was a huge selling point for me! I loved the space itself, but Jessie absolutely made my day and seemed genuinely excited for me. I know it’s her job, but I can tell she loves what she does and it made me feel like everything would go smoothly with her in the picture.

We emailed back and forth a few times and then met up. But I was 99% sure I wanted to book her before meeting her and gave her my deposit check that day. I think if you like her over the phone you’ll probably like her in person. But if it’s not a hassle to meet with her then maybe it’s better safe than sorry.

We met up for a chat. I’m glad that we did as one we’d emailed before came across as very professional and highly recommended but turned up late for our meeting leaving us standing in the street outside her office (I think she’d gone home for dinner and lost track of the time).

I didn’t, but my mother did, and I trusted her to be a good judge. I did speak to her on the phone at length though!

I met a bunch for coffee before I made a decision.

I didn’t do a face to face. We talked on the phone. She was super responsive by email and phone so those were good signs. I think you can get a good feel without doing a face to face.

- Wedding: April 2011 - Sweet ceremony by the sea and sunset celebration on the North Shore of Hawaii
Nope. But she had a ton of glowing reviews and was so lovely via email. And when we met 7 months before the wedding, I knew we made the right choice. Go with your gut, girl! 🙂

- Wedding: October 2011 - ceremony in our family's Catholic church in Watsonville; reception at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
I just booked a ‘month-of’ coordinator on Monday. We chatted for an hour on the phone, I saw her website & facebook and we won’t meet in person until next Wednesday. We’re already working on wedding details via email and phone, and I’m so happy to be working with her 🙂
Let us know how it works out for you! Good luck!

Yes, its really important to meet with him or her. This person is going to be overlooking the most important day of your life and you want to make sure you ‘click’ and feel comfortable. A face to face meeting is essential in my view.
