My dress was custom so came without a name. My mother named her Gertrude.

I love my dress’ name! It’s Augusta Jones’ Alisa, and my first name is Alysa so it’s pretty perfect 🙂

My dress came named embrace… not really a name. But I don’t hate it. I just call it my dress.

@butterflywings: Mine came with a name, but I can’t remember it now!

@butterflywings:  I bought a  handmade vintage dress online that has an inside tag that reads ‘Terry’. I’m not sure if it was made by or for a Terry but it is a solid gender neutral name so that is the name I adopted!

I’m not even sure if my dress had a formal name! I bought it as a sample and I never really looked into if it had a name or what it’s number is.

My dress just has a number so I decided to rename her as Anastacia! But I don’t actually ever refer to her as that! lol

No, it’s a hunk of fabric and naming it seems weird.

@Pinkmoon:  +1 for real.  Just when I think I’ve read all the silliness…. personifying and naming dresses?  It’s bad enough when people call their rings “she” and “her.”  Do those get named too?

Nope!  I rarely ever name anything (so to make up for it our kids will probably have ridiculously long names!) Everyone else in my family names their cars, their houses, etc.  Mine is only one without a name so far.

I have never heard of anyone calling a wedding dress a “she” until visiting this board.  I just refer to mine as “it” and so did all of my friends who are married.  Is this a regional thing??  It’s totally bizarre to me!

@butterflywings:  lol, I have only referred to her as my new used car because in the end she will actually cost more than double what I paid for my first car ( cringe) but no real name yet. Maybe when I have her in my hands – Or I also say my “essence of Australia” when referring to her…so maybe no name is needed:)
