I’m not going to bussle and I have a court train as well. I think it’s safe to not bussle because our wedding is a Sunday brunch wedding and I don’t anticipate needing to move around *too* much.

I forget how long a sweep train is, but I’ve seen celebs on the red carpet use a small cord (ribbon? Thread?) that goes from the train to a loop that can be worn around the finger to hold the train up for moving around. Maybe another option for a shorter train that’s not too heavy?

I had a short train and even just getting around for the ceremony and pictures was a pain in the neck. I had a side bustle which I hadn’t seen before, and I think it went well with my dress. I don’t think it was that expensive, maybe $100. Here’s a picture of it.

sdqgirl:  I think we are dress twins – I have never seen another side bustle besides mine and I LOVED it! I hate bustles normally, but the side bustle sold me on them finally.

OP, I wouldn’t trust other people to not step on your train so keep playing with the dress to find a bustle you like. You should have seen some of the hideous options the seamstress tried to do with my dress, but in the end I finally figured out an option that I thought still looked awesome (and not like a bustle).

LilliV:  Almost! Mine had a cowl neck and off the shoulder sleeves and it crossed in the back. I love your sweetheart!

I love the side bustle, its much mor subtle than traditional bustles.

bourdon:  That’s such a great idea. I think I’ll get that done to my dress as a bustling alternative. Thank you!

tiffany7:  Your new dress is beautiful! I love tea length dresses as well but for October your new dress looks perfect.

tiffany7:  I’ve had several prom dresses with sweep trains and never bothered with a bustle. If your train is about 6 inches long, you should be fine leaving it as is.
