cake tasting was included in selecting the venue.  we had our food and cake tasting at the same time.

make up trial.  my make up was $50 day of, she charged me same price for the trial, i think.

but i felt the makeup was reasonable. and worth it.  i scheduled it on a day i went somewhere that night so i felt i got to use it.

trinibride0417 :  No to cake tasting because our baker makes cupcakes with leftover cake mix so your cake tasting is a box of those for free.

But yes my MUA charges for trials

Usually higher end bakeries charge for cake tastings.  We went to two tastings before going with our designer and they were roughly $25 each.

I also had 2 makeup trials at $280 each.

wow, my cake tasting was only $20 since the baker was not through the venue, but the MUA I’m considering charges $75 for the trial and $150 for day of makeup… ugh

We aren’t having a traditional cake, so I’m no help there.

But for a makeup trial, I paid $75. (Another $75 for hair too. Wedding day is $125 a piece for her to come to my hotel suite. The trial was at her studio.) I got used to spending a day with the fake eyelashes, which I hadn’t worn since I was a high school theater kid. There were some things I want her to adjust on wedding day too. Well worth the money.

trinibride0417 :  Our bakery had two options, full on tasting for $45 or a box of 6 cupcakes (limited to 12 combinations of flavors) for $12

My MUA charges $75 for a trial or engagement picture session, and she requires a trial before the wedding.

Like others, cake tasting was free.  Makeup and hair trial was $65 each (two different vendors).  Then day of makeup was $75 and hair $95

Not sure where you live, as this will determine costs. I live in NYC and so things can get $$$$$ I paid 185 for a hair and makeup trial. This included airbrush makeup and false eyelashes.

We’re not doing a tasting for cakes because we are getting sheets of a dessert (not cake) from a bakery by us. We’ve obviously tried it before. I would suggest going to a bakery where you could try flavors of cake or another dessert they make.

Souzie :  Holy moly.  You spent $560 on makeup trials?!!?!

Two of our tastings we were charged for – I believe $25 for one and $50 for the other.

My makeup trials were $50 and $80 with two different artists.

Our cake tasting was free since we were ordering for 100+ people (otherwise we would’ve had to pay). A couple of the other bakeries I considered doing a tasting at charges anywhere from $25-$45 for a tasting which would be applied to your order if you ended up booking them.

My hair/makeup trial is included in my hair/makeup cost, which sort of makes sense since my bridal hair/makeup costs twice the amount that a bridesmaids hair/makeup does (considering they are doing my hair/makeup twice).

100 for my hair/makeup trial (most others charged 150 for trial) and 300 for day of makeup (included airbrush)

did not pay a cake tasting fee (done by a family friend and i didn’t care that much about it)

also did not pay a menu tasting fee to my venue but would have had to pay $250 per person if my event subtotal was below a certain (reasonable) threshold.
