    I’ve forked out lots of money for my girls that have been married and will do the same when the rest get married.  FI’s aunt is making all the dresses, so I’m hoping when they add up everything they will spend less then $200 on my wedding including parties and such.  I would love to help them but with 6 girls and 6 guys it is just not going to work for us.

    I will be paying for attire, jewellery, makeup and hair for all BMs. No matter how tight the budget, I believe attire, etc should be factored in as well as everything else. The wedding dress is calculated as part of the budget, so why not the attire for the bridesmaids and groomsmen? But I understand not all brides feel the same way.

    @eocenia:  those are gooorgeous!

    We did not.  We online searched together.  I suggested an infinity dress and they loved it.  They ordered in black for 80$.  I do believe this is a dress you can wear again, and actually bought myself one for the honeymoon.

    I did gift the ladies a modesty tube top custom made with the dress for 15$ or so a piece.

    2 of 6 could not afford the dresses so we paid in full.  They will all get the same bm gifts at about $475pp.

    I’m English. It is expected that I would pay for anything I want them to wear, including hair and makeup. They pay for their hotels/travel costs/out of pocket expenses. They are also buying their own shoes, which can be any style as long as they are plain and navy blue.

    One exception: resident bridesmaidzilla kept saying how ridiculous it was for her to buy shoes she would only wear once, and said “it’s OK, I can just get them in nude, because I’ll wear nude shoes again”. I tried to tell her that my ONLY request was the colour, but it wasn’t going in. In the end, I had to just bite the bullet and buy her shoes as well. *sigh*.

    They are wearing long, rayon, embroidered dresses made in India I believe. Comfortable and they definitely can wear them again!

    My friend used them as Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses at her wedding. Here a pic I took.
