My fiance upgraded the ring that was in the set, so everything was priced out on the bill. The diamond itself was a majority of the cost, followed by the cost of the bands. The setting cost was negligible.

Setting. But only because my diamonds are heirlooms and my setting is the only thing we paid for 🙂

Mine was about the same, 2100 for the setting and 2300 for the centre stone, and 2100 again for the matching band just as a side note.

    I voted centre stone:

    $3,500 plus $500 on duty 🙁

and the setting will be about $2,600 (custom made)

My skin is incredibly sensitive to metals (particularly gold), so my Fiance invested more in the setting (platinum, which is hypoallergenic).

I let him choose the metal, and it was a very thoughtful and sweet thing to do! 🙂

My setting has diamonds and is platinum, so that drove the cost up.  My center stone was like $100.
