Yes!!! I thought I wanted a ball gown.  A big princess type of gown.  I tried some on and they were not for me.  I picked went with a a aline.

I thought I wanted a big tulle ball gown and I ended up with a full a-line that had a single tulle layer with lace appliques on it. I had dress regret and am still a little sad that I didn’t choose the big tulle gown but everyone told me how much they loved my dress and my sister and mom both said that the ball gown with all the tulle was just not flattering on me (I’m 5’0 and curvy).

I pictured myself in an A-line but ended up buying a Fit N Flare. It totally surprised me because that was the last shape I thought would look good on me. Boy was I wrong! LOL. Brides really should try every style. 🙂

WANTED a mermaid/ trumpet, BOUGHT a A-Line, then they let me RETURN it, and GOT a fit and flare.

I originally wanted soft and flowy, ended up with a more poofy (but still super cute) high/low hem dress… but when the alterations guy ruined the dress (he made it too small and cut the fabric before I came back to try it on!), I ended up with a dress that was much closer to the original style I wanted.

I totally ended up with a different style.  Initially I thought I wanted an organza or chiffon sheath dress (with a v-neck and straps).  Then I started looking at empire waisted dresses, then A-Lines …started considering strapless, and ended up with a fit-and-flare / trumpet silk gown.  And I love it so!

YES! I went in with a list of ballgowns and A-lines, and walked out with a fit and flare. Fit and flares & mermaids were the two styles I just KNEW I wouldn’t want, and I didn’t even consider them at first… then I got in one and saw how good my hips looked :). Plus, I’m pretty sure that’s what Fiance wanted… though I think he still thinks I picked out the biggest ball gown ever 😉

I really wanted a flowy goddess-type gown . . . but I ended up with a very poofy, structured a-line.  You have to go with what looks best, not just what you imagined before you try it on.

I thought I would want something flowy since I have rather large hips, BUT my dress is fitting down to be hips and then flares out a little. Completely different than what I originally thought I wanted. I’m so glad the consultant at the bridal shop pushed me to try on different styles!

I originally thought I wanted a simple strapless sheath dress in taffeta or satin…. and I ended up buying a drop-waist ball gown with lace and tulle (which I am absolutely in LOVE with). Go figure.

Almost, my second choice was a much bigger skirt than I thought I would want

I expected an A-line and hated mermaids going in, but I ended up with a trumpet. I found out that there are dresses on the mermaid spectrum that aren’t crazy super fitted so far down and that don’t have seaming at the flare, and my whole world changed.

Yes! I thought I wanted a ballgown or a-line, something fitted on top but then flowing out from the waist. I ended up with a trumpet/fit n flare gown. The a-lines didn’t do too much for me, and the ballgown (which I always imagined myself wearing) was too overwhelming. I’m so happy with my fit n flare 🙂

I had no idea what I wanted when I began my search.  Then I fell in love with a-line dresses….i wound up buying a mermaid style! I am shocked by the change!
